[29051] Anthony is son of Thomas Colby (b. ca. 20 Dec 1567). "Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, Vol. 4," William Richard Cutter, ed. (New York: Lewis Historical Pub. Co., 1908), p. 574: "Anthony Colby, the immigrant COLBY ancestor, was born in England, of an ancient English family. He probably came with Governor Winthrop. As early as 1630 he was in Boston, was proprietor in 1633 in Cambridge, and in 1635 owned two houses there. He was admitted a freeman May 14, 1634. He sold out his property in Cambridge and removed to Salisbury, Massachusetts, where he received land in the first division in 1640 and again in 1643. He was one of the first commoners of the town of Amesbury, in 1654 and 1658, and his widow received grants in 1662 and 1664 upon his rights. He sold his house and two acres of land in Salisbury in 1647 to William Sargent, seaman, and removed west of the Powow river, between Salisbury and Ames- bury. He had a grant of land for his son John in 1660, and a town lot west of the pond. He married Susanna Haddon (?) or Sargent, daughter of William Sargent. He died, February 11, 1660. The inventory of his estate was dated 1662-63. His widow Susanna married second, William Whitridge, in 1663; was again a widow in 1669, and died July 8, 1689. Her estate was administered by her son Samuel (Essex Files 38, 89)."

[28627] His information is from "A Percefull Family Story" on the Web in 2008 at http://www.percefull.us/genealogy/Family%20Stories.htm which provides his ancestry (not verified) and offers: "Richard immigrated to colonial America with his two brothers, Samuel and Thomas. They may have come on separate ships, but they all came about the same time. Richard married Polly Lucas abt 1770, and they lived in Frederick County, Maryland. All three of the brothers lived there for a short period of time. Samuel married Nancy Bruce who was a sister to William Bruce, who married Richard's widow around 1771 soon after Richard died. The Bruce families and Thomas Perciful soon moved to the Monongahela River valley located about fourteen miles south of present day Pittsburgh. Samuel Perciful, on the other hand, migrated southward to southern Virginia. In Richard's Will, he left his brother, Thomas, five shillings. He gave Samuel a rifle, a shot pouch, a powder horn, and a bullet mold. Richard probably lived near Rawlins, Maryland on the north branch of the Potomac River, which was about fifteen miles from Cumberland, Maryland. This is also the area where Daniel Cresap lived, a witness to the Will. The Bruce family lived in the area also and first arrived there in 1744."
