[56541] George's obituary: "Clinton - Rev. George Darling died peacefully at home on June 17, 2019, after a long struggle with bone marrow cancer, his wife and daughters by his side. Rev. Darling was born in Portland, the son of Ernest 'Jim' and Merle Darling. He was raised in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School. He graduated from UMO with a B.S. in Forestry. Survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jeannette 'Jan' Darling; his daughters, Crystal and Catherine Darling, son-in-law, Mike; granddaughter, Bethany her husband, Brett, their children, Tristan and Brysen; and one brother, Dana Darling of Missouri. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Peter; and son-in-law, Frank. George worked in the lumber related industry for many years. He attended Bangor Theological Seminary and graduated in 1982. His ministerial areas include: Damariscotta (before seminary), Unity (seven years), Kents Hill (six years), and Lisbon Falls (10 years). After retiring he served in Newport (five years), Winslow UCC (one year), and Troy Union Church (five years). He retired again in 2018 because of poor health. George also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army reserve for 28 years retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He enjoyed gardening, planting trees and camping with Jan."

[44680] The unverified file in 2018 at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shellhous-4 offers: "His surname appears in different forms, Shellhous, Shellhouse, Schellhous, Shelhouse, Schelhous, etc. Shellhous has been used because it was the name uploaded in WikiTree for his father. He was the son of Martin Shellhous (abt 1762-abt 1813) and Rosetta Alford (1765-abt 1832). He was married to his first cousin, his mother's niece, Rosetta Alford (abt 1797-1880). There are conflicting dates regarding their marriage date, one source gives 1822, another 1825. It has been estimated @ 1825 in Vermont, United States, based on the birth of their daughter Roxana around 1826. The marriage ended with her death in Nov 1879. He died several months later in May 1880. The only entry concerning their deaths located was for Roswell, but she appears in the image of the document, in the row before his. Her death occurred in Nov 1879 (the schedule was for the year beginning 01 June 1879 and ending 31 May 1880). She was 78, i.e., born around 1802. According to the 1860 census, Roswell and Rosetta had at least three children." This file contains his children and further information.

As Roger had been holding them for three-quarters of a year at Michaelmas 1182, Morris dates the marriage to around Christmas 1181 [citing Rotuli Hundredorum, vol. 1, pp. 504, 537; Pipe Roll 23 Henry II, pp. 125, 137; Pipe Roll 24 Henry II, pp. 26-7; Pipe Roll 28 Henry II, p. 64]." "The Liber Vitæ of Durham, f. 63d, lists the children of Roger and Ida as Hugh, William, Roger, John, Ralph, Mary, Margaret and Ida [Surtees Society, vol. 136 (1923)]."
A Magna Charta Surety, Roger was Baron de Bigod and 2nd Earl of Norfolk and Suffolk, Lord High Steward of England. John S. Wurts, Magna Charta (Philadelphia: Brookfield Publishing Company, 1954): ROGER BIGOD, the Surety, b. abt 1150, who succeeded as second Earl of Norfolk and Suffolk. He was appointed in 1189, by King Richard, one of the ambassadors to Philip of France, for obtaining aid for the recovery of the Holy Land. In 1191, he was keeper of H ereford Castle. He was Chief Judge in the King's Ct from 1195 to 1202. In 1200 he was sent by King John as one of his messengers to summon William the Lion, King of Scotland, to do homage to him in the parliament which was held at Lincoln, and subsequently attended King Jphn into Poitou, but on his return he was won over to their cause by the rebel Barons and became one of the strongest advocates of the Charter of Liberty, for which he was excomm by Pope Innocent III.
