[60671] Clayton is son of Earl Bartlett Gilley (1905-1940) & Viola Caroline Osgood (1904-1982). His obituary: "Bar Harbor - Clayton E. Gilley Sr., 84, died at home after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born March 31, 1932, in Otter Creek, the son of Earl Gilley and Viola (Osgood) Gilley. Clayton lost his father to cancer at the age of 8 and dropped out of school to work to assist in the support of his family, and resided with family members both in Otter Creek and in Dedham. Clayton entered the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and served in postwar Europe. After returning and working for several years, Clayton met Theolyn Mitchell in the village of Bernard and they were married soon thereafter. The couple settled in the town of Bar Harbor, raised a family and Clayton completed a 40-year career at Jackson Laboratory. Clayton was very close to his brothers, all of whom were avid hunters, and spent much time in the woods and hunting camp. Upon his retirement, Clayton became the areas used lawnmower repairman and always could be relied upon to help all who came by. He was active in this service even while battling his sickness. He was a member of St. Brendans Anglican Church and American Legion Post 69. Clayton is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Theolyn, his sons Clayton Jr. and wife, Jonette, of Bass Harbor, Michael and wife, Anne, of Brewer; daughters Linda Gilley of Brewer, and Karen Willey and partner, Mike Dearborn, of Camden; grandchildren Sean White of Park City, Utah, Thomas Horne of Atlanta, Ga., Elizabeth and Andrew Braley of Bass Harbor, Johnathan Herlihy, Andrew Gilley of Bangor, Toni Willey and daughter Desiree of Ellsworth, Cara Willey and partner, Steven Davis, of Southwest Harbor, Caroline Hatch of Brewer; and brothers Ernest and Reginald. He was predeceased by his older brother Earl Jr. and sister Thelma Davis."

Gordon; two daughters. Mrs. Virginia Viggio, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Peggy F. Sowers, of Millerstown RD 1; a sister Mrs. Blanche Wertz, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, and a great-grand son.
