Born in Brewer, Maine on January 17, 1923, Les served in the US Navy during World War II. He received his BA at the University of Connecticut and his Masters at University of Pittsburgh. He worked with young people at the YMCA in both Pittsburgh, PA and Berkeley, CA. Subsequently, he became a teacher and taught junior high in Hayward, CA and later at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. Retiring early, he started a third career as a commercial Salmon fisherman out of Bodega Bay. Les will be cremated and his ashes distributed off of Bodega Bay this fall."
