"The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 31 January 1924," p. 3: "One of our oldest and most highly respected citizens died at his home on West Main street on Wednesday evening of last week after a lingering illness of several years from heart trouble. William Francis Comp was a son of the late Samuel and Catharine (Bear) Comp, and was born August 11, 1852, died January 23, 1924, aged 71 years, 5 mouths and 12 days. He was married February 18, 1875. to Annie Alice Dunkleberger, of Spring township, who died without issue May 17, 1918. He is survived by one brother and one sister, namely, John Comp, of South Dakota, and Mrs. Mary Beaver, of Boiling Green, Florida. Mr. Comp was a man well known for his integrity and highly esteemed and respected by alll who knew him. He was an excellent neighbor and friend, very kind and obliging. He will be re-meinlberd as a ininn of sterling worth and excellent character. He was a member of the Lutheran church for many years. Funeral services were held at his late home in this place on Saturday at 2 p. m. His pastor, Rev. S. H. Kornmann officiated, assisted by Rev. R. R. Miller, of the local Methodist church. Interment was made in the family burial plot in the cemetery, this place."

[11799] The IGI file states Robert was b. in Redesdale, Northumberland - this is not verified. http://www.electricscotland.com/webclans/families/angus_douglases.htm offers: "ROBERT DE UMFRAVILLE, the son and successor of Earl Gilbert, was appointed Joint Guardian of Scotland by Edward II. in 1308, and was forfeited by King Robert Bruce for his adherence to the English interests. The earldom was then bestowed upon Sir John Stewart, of Bonkil, who was descended from the second son of Alexander, High Steward of Scotland. On the death of Thomas, third Earl of Angus of the Stewart family, in 1377, without issue, the title devolved on his sister, Lady Margaret. She resigned it in 1389, and King Robert II. then granted the earldom of Angus, with the lordships of Abernethy, in Perthshire, and of Bonkil, in Berwickshire, to George Douglas, her illegitimate son by William, the first Earl of Douglas, her brother-in-law."
