Her sister Devorguilla, Lady of Potheringhay, m. to John Baliol of Barnard Castle, Regent of Scotland and Lord of Teesdah, who died in 1269 (he is gggrandson of Guy Baliol, Lord of the Forest of Teesdah, per Collins, "Royal Ancestors...," p. 31). Find A Grave Memorial 112596903 offers: "Second but eldest surviving daughter of Alan FitzRoland (Roland FitzUhtred), Lord of Galloway and his first wife, the daughter of Roger de Lacy. Granddaughter of Roland of Galloway and Eleanor/Helen de Morville, and Roger de Lacy, Constable of Chester. Helen was the first wife of Sir Roger de Quincy, 2nd Earl of Winchester, the eldest surviving son and heir to Saher de Quincy and Margaret de Beaumont. Her maritagium included the manor of Kippax, Yorkshire. They had three daughters: Margaret, wife of Sir William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby; Elizabeth, wife of Sir Alexander de Comyn, Earl of Buchan; Ellen, wife of Sir Alan la Zouche of Ashby La Zouche. Helen was alive November of 1245, and buried at Brackley. Roger would marry another two times; to Maud de Bohun and Eleanor de Ferrers."

[22494] John studied at Tusculum College and received the A.M. degree at Greenville College 25 Sept 1824. He became a Professor of Greek, and then a pastor; he erected a Baptist Church on his estate in Monroe Co., TN; he was pastor of Mount Harmony Baptist Church for twenty years, resigning in 1863 after serving without pay his entire ministry. He owned 200 acres in Big Valley, Anderson Co. in 1801, according to Richard Conroy, but this seems unlikely given his birth year. John was a teacher as early as 1813 or 1814 in TN.
