She was born at West Penobscot July 19, 1906, the daughter of William and Jessie (Gray) Deans. She was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1926. She joined the Methodist Church of Bangor at the age of 16 and later transferred to the Orland United Methodist Church and was an active member until her illness. She was a member of Riverside Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 123 and the Hancock County Extension for over 50 years; a charter member and past president of the American legion Auxiliary and a member and past president of the Methodist Women's Society. She is survived by her husband, Arthur L. of Orland; two sons, Arthur Leslie of Tacoma, Wash. and John of Orland; one sister, Margaret Page of Orland; two brothersl Robert Deans of Orland and Norris Deans of Penobscot; eight grandchildrenl two great-grandchildren."

Although a chronic sufferer from asthma, Mr. Mayhew was full of energy and has labored hard to supply the wants of a young and growing family. He was a respected member of the church at Levant village and will be greatly missed. Besides his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Mayhew of Levant, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Winnie and five young children. Hazel, Dorothy, Lilllan, Ralph and Roland; three brothers, Ernest Mayhew of Levant, Elmer Mayhew, who was summoned from a training camp in Maryland, but arrived too late, and Alton Mayhew of Levant.
