Haskell, 77, passed away early Saturday morning, May 28, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous four-year struggle with cancer. Her loving and devoted family was at her side. She was a very dedicated wife to Stuart P. Haskell Jr. and they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in July. Gloria was a devoted mother and spent much of her life raising her four children of which she was extremely proud. Gloria was a superb craftsperson, creating many objects of beauty through oil painting, sketching, needlepoint, cross-stitch, calligraphy, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Her family proudly displays her works of art in their homes, and it gave Gloria such pleasure to create such beautiful items that she shared with her family and friends. Gloria loved to travel and visited many locations with her husband. She enjoyed summers at their lake house in Lee. Gloria was a friendly and feisty lady. Those that met her never forgot her, as she left warm and loving impressions. Gloria was an avid lover of animals and will be sorely missed by Shad, Chloe and Drew. She was a great fan of University of Maine athletics, one that she shared with her husband and family. In addition to her husband, Stu, she is survived by four children, Christopher and his significant other, Colette, of Saco, Caren Ford and her husband, Chris, of Old Town, Catherine of Bangor and Carol Wertz and her husband, Lloyd, of Londonderry, N.H.; grandchildren, Abigail Ford of Bangor, David Haskell of Vassalboro, Tiffany Pelletier of Corinth, Hunter and Logan Wertz of Londonderry, N.H., Anna Pettengill of Limington, Christopher Haskell of Naples and Matthew Haskell of Bar Harbor; great-grandchildren, Jade Pettengill, Hailey and Lucas Haskell, Olivia Pelletier, Connor Ireland, Christina, Kaelab and Jacob Haskell; many cousins; and a special stepsister and her son, Virginia and Dwight Johnson of South Windsor, Conn. A special thank you to her daughter, Caren, who unselfishly dedicated her life to caring for her mom. The family acknowledges the following for the wonderful care they provided to Gloria: Dr. Michael Bruehl, the doctors and nurses of CancerCare of Maine and the doctors and nurses of St. Joseph Hospital. Gloria was a very private person and the family will be having a private graveside service later this summer for the family."

Earl's obituary from the Bangor Daily News: "Utica, NY - Earl A. Leach, Sr., 94, of Utica and formerly of Hermon, ME, went home to be with the Lord April 4, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 8, 1924, in Utica, the only child of Arthur R. and Margaret (Smith) Leach. Earl served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and later in the Korean War. He married Elinor Dysart on November 30, 1946, in Utica. They resided in Hermon, ME for two years where he worked as a milkman for Footman Dairy. The couple had enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage when Mrs. Leach passed away September 3, 2009.
His funeral will be Friday, April 26th at 12 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery."

He was a commissioner of array in the county, and in the Liberty of Hexham, in 1335, 1344, 1345 and 1353, and is said to have been high bailiff of the lordship of Tynedale, 1337. From 1338 to 1343, 1346 to 1349, and 1350 to 1355, he was steward of the Archbishop of York's Regality of Hexham. In May 1341, of special grace for good service in the Scottish March, he had a grant of free warren in his demesnes of Ogle, Shilvington, Thirston, &c., with licence to fortify and crenellate his dwelling house of Ogle; and in July was one of the additional commissioners to assess and levy the ninth in Northumberland. The following year he took part in the battle of Neville's Cross, in the 3rd division; and was among the Northern magnates who receivcd a letter of thanks from the King for their faith and zeal in the defence of the King's honour and the safety of the realm, especially in his absence. He was summoned in December 1346 to attend a council of Northern magnates and prelates on the Morrow of Epiphany at Westminster, to discuss the defence of the realm and the carrying on of the war against the Scots. In December 1350 he was chief commissioner to collect the tenths and fifteenths in Newcastle, and in July 1354 he was made joint surveyor under the Statute of Labourers in Hexhamshlre. The following year he was left in charge of Berwick by Lord Greystoke, the Keeper, who without orders joined the King in France. The Scots made a surprise attack by sea, and took the town, though the castle held out. He married, 1stly, Isabel, sister of John DE FERNIELAW, and, in her issue, heir of his grandson John. He married, 2ndly, on or before 10 May 1331, Joan, daughter and coheir of Robert DE HEPHALE or HEPPALE. He died 16 June 1362. His widow died 19 March 1364/5. [CP 10:24-6]"

Christina Straub in "Straubs, Smiths and Extended Family" on rootsweb.com in 2007 states "The Reformed church records of Diedendorf and Rauweiler show that Johann Ulrich Wirth was baptized in 1714, married Maria Schmit in 1740, and then had five children with her while still in Europe. In 1748, this family took the same bold step that Ulrichs sister had taken about four years earlier, setting off down the Rhine to begin the perilous journey to the New World. At Rotterdam, the family boarded a ship called the Two Brothers, which took them first to Portsmouth, England, and then out onto the open sea. The terrible hardships attending these voyages are well-documented elsewhere; Ulrich and Maria entered upon this ordeal with their five children between the ages of 1 and 7. The ship arrived at Philadelphia on 15 September 1748.
"The family's whereabouts during their first four years in America are unknown, but by 1752 they had settled in what would soon officially become Whitehall Township, Northampton County. The creation of this new township in the back parts of Northampton County was requested in a petition signed by Ulrich Wirth, Lorenz Guth (another direct ancestor of mine), and a few of their neighbors. More precisely, Ulrichs property was in the area we now call Schnecksville in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. (Lehigh County was created from the western part of Northampton County in 1812.) The oldest surviving property map of this area shows that Ulrich and his two oldest sons owned a vast amount of land in the area that is now occupied by the Lehigh/Carbon Community College and parts of the Trexler/Lehigh County Game Preserve. Anyone who has experienced the natural beauty of the game preserve and state game lands near Schnecksville can well imagine what a bounteous, untamed idyll of forest and stream was enjoyed by Ulrichs children during their youth. The church they attended at this time was Schlossers Reformed church, which later became known as Unionville, and still later as Neffs.
"By the mid-1770s, Ulrichs oldest children had already married and moved out to establish their own families when the desire for independence from Great Britain took a firm hold in Northampton County. The seven oldest sons of Ulrich and Maria all appear on rosters of various militia and state line units during the Revolutionary War. At least four of them are documented to have performed active duty, and one paid the ultimate price for our liberty. (In all likelihood, all seven of the oldest boys served active duty during the war, but the full extent of their contribution can no longer be ascertained, due to the disappearance of most active duty rosters over the years.)

"From 'Miscellaneous Family Histories and Burial Records,' by Raymond Hollenbach, found at the Lehigh County Historical Society. This property was closest to Unionville, but that church was not founded until 1765. It is therefore possible that they first belonged to Heidelberg (if any church at all), but the early records of that church are missing. All sons in this family appear on the rosters of Northampton County militia companies; several were on active duty during the Revolutionaly War. "Date of birth is from the Diedendorf Reformed KB, according to Dr. Gerhard Hein. However, Annette Kunselman Burgert lists this date as the christening date, from the same source.
"Sponsors at his baptism: Johannes Scheurer (maternal grandfather) from Weyer; Johannes Teusch, shoemaker; Anna Elisabetha, daughter of Jacob Hegle, both of Wolffskirchen.
"Occupation was 'linenweaver.'
"An 'Ulrich Wirt' appears as a sponsor at a baptism recorded in the register of the Lutheran church at Hirschland in 1735 (as reported by Dr. Gerhard Hein). The entry also indicates that his brother-in-law was one Hans Henrich Füller. It is not known whether the Ulrich in this record is one of ours.
"The record of his marriage (10 February 1740) in the Reformed church register of Rauweiler, as reported by Dr. Gerhard Hein, lists him as a resident of Rauweiler.
"Came with his wife and first five (i.e., German-born) children from Lixheim to America on the ship 'Two Brothers' in 1748. In addition to the passenger list, this is also confirmed by a mention of Ulrich's emigration in the inventory of Daniel Stutzmann, the husband of Ulrich's sister Barbara, where he is named 'Hans Ulrich Wirth' and is described as married.
"Appears on the 1762 tax list of Whitehall Township as 'Ulrich Wuerth.'
"The Northampton County Register of Wills contains no documents pertaining to his death whatsoever. There is an Ulrich Wirth listed in the letters of administration for his son Samuel. If this Ulrich is Samuel's father, it indicates that he lived at least into 1776. If it is not Samuel's father, it lends credence to the assertion by some that this Ulrich had a son named Ulrich."
Christina Straub also states that Johann Ulrich Wirth is son of Johann Ulrich Wirt, b. 1675, and his wife Catharina Scheuerer.
