Jacobs, 90, of Dauphin died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. He was born April 15, 1917 in Harrisburg to the late Domer P. and Carrie (Reber) Jacobs. He retired from the U.S. government as an Army logistical engineer and retired from the Naval Reserves; was a former deputy clerk of courts for Dauphin County and former Dauphin Middle Paxton tax collector; a graduate of the former William Penn High School and Pennsylvania Business School; a member of Hope Presbyterian Church of Dauphin, life member of Robert Burns Lodge 464, F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine and its Usher Unit, Middle Paxton Lions Club, Dauphin Middle Paxton Fire Company, DAST Corp., Dauphin Sunshine Seniors, past Scoutmaster of Dauphin Boy Scout Troop 3 and former member of Tri-Valley Hunting Lodge; delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years; and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, hunting, fishing and storytelling. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ellen Greaney Jacobs; three sons, R. Brent of Dickerson, Md., F. Ted of Columbia, Mo., and Gregg E. of New Bloomfield; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Carrie M. Powley of Dauphin, Viola Grant of Harrisburg and Dorothy Peffer of Dauphin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; and three sisters, Emma Holtzman, Geraldine Gearhart and Anna Mae Brown."

When Eric arrived in Vietnam he was assigned to Alpha Company, 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. Eric died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the back and left side from hostile artillery fire while on a company patrol, 2 kilometers south southwest of Con Thien (Hill 158). The Marines lost a total of 6 men. Tour of duty unknown. Survived by his parents, Donald K and Phyllis M Wardwell of Rural Free Delivery #1, Box 385, Bucksport, Maine, his sister; Donna S Wilson of Star Route, Bucksport, Maine and 2 brothers; Jeffery and Joel Wardwell of Maine."
