"**Robert Bruce to Barbara Gavil, Bart Twp. 10 Aug. 1791**
"(Note: I don't think there is a Bart Twp. in Chester Co. I would rather think that Robert and Barbara were in Chester Co. at the time of their marriage and Robert gave Bart Twp. as their after marriage residence. Some support is given to my conjecture in that in the 1800 Federal Census a Widow Bruce is enumerated in Bart Twp.).
"As Robert was born in 1797 and Rachel in 1801, how far fetched is it to think that their parents are indicated by the marriage of Robert and Margaret Gavil in 1791?"

[38657] "A history of Farmington, Franklin County, Maine, from the earliest explorations to the present time, 1776-1885," Francis Gould Butler, offers: "Jonathan Cushman, the eldest child of James and Hannah (Negus) Cushman, was born in Dartmouth (now New Bedford), Mass., Oct. 26, 1754. He was well educated in the English branches, and studied navigation. He began life as a sailor, and during the Revolution commanded a brig, was captured and imprisoned on board the British prison-ship Jersey. Previous to this he had joined the Continental army, and aided in the fortification of Dorchester Heights. After the Revolution he continued to reside at New Bedford until he removed to Farmington in 1795. He purchased the farm on the west side of the river, now owned by J. S. Ellis, which had been previously settled by John Rice and there had a home for the remainder of his life. Captain Cushman was a man of intelligence and wide information, and was respected for his good sense. He served the town as one of its selectmen in 1802. He d. Apr. 24, 1834. Captain Cushman was twice married: June I, 1780,10 Mary Spooner, who died Oct. 11, 1804; Jan. 10, 1805, to Widow Anna (Norton) Hervey, who died May 1, 1850, aged 78 years."

[29569] The 1920 federal census in Dauphin Co., PA lists Charles, wife Annie S., and children Annie, Eli, Jennie, Elma and Mollie. He is probably the Chas. Hartman listed in the 1880 federal census in this county in the family of Michael Hartman and wife Catharine. The unverified Gasbarro Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2015 offers: "When Charles C. 'Chas' Hartman and his twin brother . . . were born on July 17, 1873, in Lykens, Pennsylvania, their father, Michael, was 38 and their mother, Catharine, was 31. He married Annie Sevilla Miller on June 1, 1895, in Elizabethville, Pennsylvania. They had eight children in 19 years. He died on October 11, 1942, in Gratz, Pennsylvania, at the age of 69, and was buried there." "Lykens Register, 16 October 1942," p. 4: "Mr. Charles Hartman, 69, a resident of Gratz for many years died at his home in that place Sunday morning following an illness of several months. Mr. Hartman was well known in this section, having sold farm produce in Lykens and Wiconisco twice weekly for a number of years. Besides his wife he is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Elmer Bellis and Mrs. Lewis Scheib, Lykens, R. D.; Mrs. Eston Hoffman, Gratz; Mrs. Ralph Hartman, Berrysburg; Mrs. Fred Shade, Gratz; Alma and Mrs. Clair Romberger, at home. Two brothers and two sisters, Daniel Gratz; Frank, Washington, D. C; Mrs. Mary Shadle, Harrisburg; Mrs. Mrs. Katherine Matter, Millersburg; and thirty-four grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Gratz."

His occupation is listed as chief forest fire warden in Maine, United States. He died on 9 January 1941, in Fort Fairfield, Aroostook, Maine, United States, at the age of 74, and was buried in Masardis, Aroostook, Maine, United States."
