Vivian I. (nee Kenniston) Conner believed that he is the John who recruited a company of Militia at Falmouth 21 April 1775 and marched them to regimental headquarters where they enrolled 24 April 1775 - they then marched to the local army headquarters. This John died following military service at Ipswich, Mass. He purchased a tract at Saccarappa in 1762 which he then farmed. [See "Early settlers of Harrison, Maine : with an historical sketch of the settlement, progress and present condition of the town," G. T. Ridlon (Skowhegan, ME: Kilby & Woodbury, 1877), p. 34, states "Capt. John Brackett was a man of learning and position; he was a land surveyor by profession, and laid out a great part of the city of Portland" - and states he is father of Lucy who m. Asael Foster. This incorrect link has been disproven.] See "Revolutionary War Graves Register," Clovis H. Brakebill, compiler (SAR, 1993), also "SAR Revolutionary War Graves Register CD," (Buffalo, NY: Progeny Publishing Co., 1998). "Genealogical History of the Quinby (Quimby) Family...," Henry Cole Quinby (New York: 1915), p. 228, states that John was a land surveyor who r. at Saccarappa (now Westbrook). John's company of 61 men is referenced by "History of Colonel Edmund Phinney's 31st Regiment of Foot," Nathan Goold (Portland, ME: Thurston, 1896), p. 19 - and John is identified as son of Anthony Bracket and wife Sarah Knight on p. 37. "Massachusetts Militia Companies and Officers in the Lexington Alarm," call number REF E241/L6/H35 in the NEHGS Library lists in No. XI, Vol. 218, Capt. John Brackett of Falmouth. See "Early settlers of Harrison, Maine: with an historical sketch of the settlement, progress and present condition of the town," G T Ridlon (Skowhegan [Me.] : Kilby & Woodbury,1877), pp. 34ff. Also see " Brackett Genealogy...," Herbert Ireson Brackett (Washington, D.C.: self published, 1907), pp. 415ff.
NOTE: "The Narragensett Sun", 14 Nov 1895 (Portland, ME), published "The History of Westbrook, Chapter XIV" in which our John Brackett, son of Anthony and Mary, is shown NOT to be the John who served in the War for Independence and died in MA - of our John Brackett the article states "John, who married Mary Fabyan of Scarborough. He lived in Saccarappa in the same land now owned by Mrs. Conant on the old Gorham road. His son John, Jr., married Jane Warren, daughter of John and Jane (Johnson) Warren, and sister of the well-known lumber merchants John and Nathaniel Warren. He lived at one time on the farm in Gorham, now owned by Samuel Fenderson, but subsequently removed with his family to Parsonfield. John Brackett, Sr., had other children as follows. Mary married Eleazer Burbank, Lucy married Asahel Foster of Harrison, and Sally who married 1st Simeon Quinby and 2nd Thomas Mayberry. She was the mother of the late Charles Quinby, who lived on Main street, where B.F. Roberts now lives, and of Simeon Mayberry, who lived on the Windham road in the house now owned by Abner L. Hawkes."

In 2019 https://www.geni.com/people/Thomas-Goldthwaite offers: "Ezekiel Goldthwaite (fourth generation) son of John, born at Boston, July 9, 1710. Married Nov. 2, 1732, Elizabeth Lewis of Boston. For the greater part of his life he was Registrar of Deeds for the County of Suffolk. His first signature as registrar was Nov. 6, 1740. He was an Addressser of Hutchinson in 1774, and a protester against the Revolutionist the same year, although like many other loyalists he was one of the 58 Boston memorilists in 1760 who arrayed themselves against the Crown officials, and having sowed the seeds of sedition, afterwards became alarmed at its results, mob rule.
His last signature as registrar is said to have been written Jan. 17, 1776, two months before the evacuation of Boston. He died seven years later, Dec. 4th, 1782, in his 73rd year. His widow died Feb. 6. 1794. aged 80."
