He was summoned for military service from 14 Jun 1294 to 12 Mar 1300/01, and to attend the King wherever he might be 8 Jun 1294, and to attend the King at Salisbury 26 Jan 1296/97. He married Joice, daughter and heir of Sir John d'Engaine of Laxton, Pythchley, etc., by Joan daughter and heir of SIr Gilbert de Greinville of Hallaton. He was living 28 Oct 1302, but was deceased before 5 Dec 1302; the inq. p.m. of his grandson, Roger, gave his death as 20 Nov 1302. His wife survived him." [53345] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 28 March 2023: "Blue Hill - Richard K. Howard passed away on March 22, 2023, with family at his side. Richard, affectionately known as Dick, Rick or Dickie, was the son of Kenneth and Grethe 'Bray' Howard of Castine. Richard was part of the last graduating class at Castine High School in 1961. He served our country for eight years in the United States Air Force during the height of the Vietnam War. In 1971, he received an associate degree in building construction from SMVTI in South Portland and went to work for Brockway Smith Co., from where he retired after 30 years. Richard loved his family and spending time with them more than anything. He had many talents, some of which included making furniture and picture frames. He and Sharon were passionate about their gardens and even created a special park at their house for their grandchildren. Richard was always known for his wit and sense of humor, which would lighten up any situation. His passing leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon (Pooler) Howard; son David and wife, Caryn, of Bangor; grandchildren Patrick, Kate and Ryan; sister Janet Sundman and husband, Robert, of Stonington, Conn.; sisters-in-law Sonya Harriman, Judie York, Annette Palanda and husband, Joe, Helen Wardwell, Debbie Tymoczko and husband, Bill; brothers-in-law Jerry Cieo and wife, Jo-Ann, William Pooler, Forrest (Bobo) Pooler and wife, Pier, and Greg Pooler and wife, Debbie; and a very special cousin, Raymond Howard, and his wife, Sue. Richard was predeceased by his parents and by his very special lifelong friend Rudy York, who was also his brother-in-law."

[58050] Gardiner's obituary: "Southwest Harbor - Gardiner L. Mitchell, 89, died on December 25, 2020. He was born January 4, 1931, in Southwest Harbor the son of Julius E. and Doris A. (Hodgdon) Mitchell. Gardiner grew up in Southwest Harbor, graduating from Pemetic High School in 1950. He later went into the Army and spent two years in Japan. When he returned from the service, he married Janet (Lewis) Mitchell. He soon joined the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. His first shore station was Seawall, Maine. Later stations included Matinicus Island, Chatham Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard, and Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. He also served on the ship Explorer voyaging to Africa as well as the Caribbean. He later returned to Southwest Harbor where he was employed by the Southwest Harbor Coast Guard base for 43 years before his retirement. Gardiner is survived by his wife Janet; daughter Pamela Mitchell and her husband, Peter Smith; son Robert Mitchell and his wife Jennifer all of Mt. Desert; three grandchildren, Nat Brehmer and his wife Shelley of Apopka, Florida; Brett Mitchell of Wiscasset and Calli Mitchell of Boston, Massachusetts. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind special friends, Wilbert Terry, Keith Clark, Merle Cousins, and Joe Reynolds. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
