[61734] Marilyn's obituary: "Marilyn Joan (Ellsmore) Griffin, 80, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, Saturday, January 3, 2015. Marilyn was born on February 15, 1934, in Machias, the daughter of Clarence and Louise (Miller) Ellsmore. After graduating from Machias High School in 1951 she married John Griffin on Feb 21, 1953. They moved to CT where they raised their six children before moving back to Maine in 1984. Most importantly, Marilyn was dedicated to her family. She was an amazing teacher and roll model for all of her children. Marilyn was a devout Christian and now is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was involved in many Church activities while attending the Jacksonville Methodist Church and was also involved with the Wee Care Baby Center in Machias. She enjoyed watching all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in any sporting event in which they participated. She was the biggest cheerleader for all of them. Additionally, she enjoyed playing Bingo and taking shopping trips to Bangor with her daughters and an occasional trip to Hollywood Slots. She volunteered at Down East Community Hospital and will be remembered fondly by staff members for her famous assortment of Pies. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 61 years. Sons; Michael and his wife Eileen of Leominster, MA, Dick and his wife Lorna of Manchester, ME and John Jr. and wife Brenda of Terryville, CT. Daughters; Carolyn and husband Edward Bourdeau of Whiting, ME, Janet and husband Bob Young of East Machias, ME, and Patti and husband Mike Sansing of Marshfield, ME. 12 grandchildren; Bobbi-Jo Bourdeau and partner Nathanial, Diana and husband Channon Jones, Tanya Griffin, Kyle Sansing , Jared Griffin, Sean Griffin, David Griffin and wife Rachel, Emily Griffin and fiancé to be Andrew, Drew Sansing and fiancé Emily Day, Rachel Young, Kimberly and Kristine Bourdeau. 7 great-grandchildren; Zain, Starr, Cody, Cort, Cruz, Indy and Emma. She is also survived by three brothers and their spouses, George and Beverly, Dick and Brenda and Clarence Jr. and Wink and two sisters; Marion Foss and Joyce Vose, brother-in-law William Griffin and Anna, four sister-in-laws; Dorothy, Elaine, Lucille and Beth. She also has many nieces and nephews and numerous friends that referred to her as Ma Griffin. Marilyn was predeceased by two sisters Kay Bryant and Thelma Kopcha."
