Mrs. Chappel was the president of the Residents Council at Geer Memorial and a former member of the Litchfield Grange and the Litchfield Housing Authority, as well as the past president of the Morgan-Weir Post #27 American Legion Auxiliary in Litchfield and the Torrington food bank. She is survived by six sons, Bernard Archer of Fairfield, Maine, Lester Archer of Long Beach, Miss., Sam Archer of Hollywood, Fla., George W. Archer of Thomaston, Truman H. Archer, Jr., of Torrington and Douglas Archer of Winsted, one daughter, Sandra Andrews of Winsted, three brothers, Robert Glass of Texas, Earl R. Glass of Naugatuck and Daniel Glass of Texas, three sisters, June Comprari of Waterbury, Jean Glass of Saugerties, N.Y. and Rhoda Coddington of Ga., 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Archer and eight brothers and sisters."
