The estate inventoried 1088 pounds, 8 shillings. His will says, 'My will is that if my son John should fail of being brought up to college, then he shall become an equal partner with my son Job in the real estate.' His son John graduated at Harvard." [38957] "The Daily News [Lebanon, PA], 23 August 1920," p. 7: "Schaefferstown, Aug. 23. Isaac Shiner, the oldest resident of town, died at the home of his son-in-law, Samuel Houser, on Saturday morning of senile debility, aged 92 years, 11 months and 6 days. He was confined to his bed seven weeks. He was born in Lancaster county, and when 6 years old, was compelled by the death of his father to make his home with strangers. He and his wife, who was Sophia Druckenbrod, had four children, of whom the following three survive: John, of Lancaster, and Mrs. Samuel Houser and Mrs. Jere. Kohl, of town. Other surviving descendants are nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. His wife died 24 years ago, and since her death deceased had his home with the family of his son-in-law, Samuel Houser. For 24 years he was U. S. Mail carrier from this place to Richland, and was very popular as a jolly, accommodating stage driver. His funeral will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, with services at the bouse and interment in the local cemetery."
[48177]
Find A Grave memorial 155419689 lists his children with Ruth and reports: "Recent consensus is that Matthew was one of the children brought to Salem between 1643 and 1646 during the 1st Parliamentarian/Royalist Civil War from Middlesex County (now East Metropolitan London)to live with and work for families of the area.
He married Ruth Andrus, daughter of William Andrus of Lynn and stepdaughter of John Tarbox of Lynn, in September of 1649 and moved to Topsfield probably the following spring. They had 11 children that survived to adulthood. Records of Topsfield previous to June 1657 were lost to a fire at the town clerk's residence so no baptismal records of earliest children survive previous to this date."
