Elizabeth Green Young, dau. of Dr. Thomas and Martha (Lynde) Greer, of Leicester, and gr.-dau. of Brig. Gen. Timothy Ruggles; d. ; m. 2d, in New York,------------. Benjamin Foster, D. D., a brother of Gideon, was born at the same place June 12,1750. He graduated at Yale college in 1775, and after completing his theological studies under the supervision of Dr. Stillman he commenced the work of the ministry, and was ordained in Leicester, Oct. 23, 1776. In January, 1784, he was settled as pastor of the First Baptist society. He remained but two years, however, when he removed to Newburyport, and soon after to New York, where, in the year 1798 he died a victim of the yellow fever, which then prevailed. He was devoted to his flock to the last, and fell a martyr to his faithfulness. He was a learned man, and a good minister. He published 'The Divine Right of Immersion,' in answer to a Mr. Fish, and defended 'Primitive Baptism' in a letter to John Cleveland, and also published a treatise on the 'Seventy Weeks of Daniel.'. . . ."

[50] Joseph is on the list of those who communed in Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeromesville, Ashland Co., OH in the 1850s. Although raised a Lutheran, Joseph became the ordained local pastor of the Lake Fork United Brethren Church (now United Methodist) near his farm home. A colored glass window in the church commemorates him. He and his family are in the 1860 and 1880 federal censuses. Joseph was elected assassor in Mohican Twp., Ashland Co., OH in April 186_ and his brother John was elected a constable. His father-inlaw, George W. Basford, with his third wife, Elizabeth, conveyed land to Joseph 23 Oct 1855.

[47203] Dale's obituary: "Dale L. Osten, 70, of Oil City, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at his residence while surrounded by loved ones, following a period of declining health. He was born in Oil City on June 19, 1947 to the late James and Gertrude (Johnston) Osten. Dale worked as a delivery driver for Country Belle and 7 Up early in his career. He then worked as a nurse at the Oil City Hospital, and the State Health Departments in Missouri and Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Army National Guard. As his health permitted, he attended the Oil City Wesleyan Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, old music and old movies, and reminiscing about old times with family and friends. On February 11, 1978 he married the former Janice Ward, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Danny Osten of Rockland and Rhonda Watson and her husband Randy of Franklin; five grandchildren: Adam Osten, Alyssa Osten, Joshua Osten, Patrick Watson, and Cameron Watson; and a great-grandchild, Peyton Osten. Also surviving are five siblings: Sally Dimino of Costa Mesa, California; Mary Ellen Anderson and her husband Tom of Meadville; Peggy Kidd of Tionesta; Dean Osten and his wife Olivia of Springfield, Missouri; and Allan Osten and his wife Beverly of Erie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and leaves behind his dear beagle, 'Abbie.' In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear friend, Donald K. Garrison, who was like a brother to him and shared the same birthday; and his beloved beagle, Annie, whose remains will be buried with him at his request. Friends and family will be received Sunday (March 4) from 2 - 4 p.m. and on Monday (March 5) from 10-11 a.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lyle Langdon and Rev. Sam Wagner, officiating. The V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will accord full military honors following the service. Private interment will be in Shaw Farm Cemetery, Cornplanter Township, Venango County."
