She was born April 8, 1933, in Bangor, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Hatch) Braley. A graduate of Bangor High School, where she met David Cole, her husband of 68 years. Ernestine traveled the country and Europe with David, raising their four sons (the 'Cole brothers') as he pursued his career in the U.S. Army. After her husband's retirement from the Army, Ernestine and her husband returned to Bangor and built their dream home. As a member of North Bangor Congregational Church; Ernestine played the piano during services and was the Chorale Director. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a long time member of the Bangor Baptist Church. Ernestine loved doing Christian Missionary work, making five trips to Vietnam. She was a lifelong avid and accomplished gardener, bird watcher, and feeder of birds. Ernestine was a longtime member of the Bangor Garden Club, serving two terms as president, and she would generously share plants with any neophyte gardener. She was a skilled crafter who enjoyed needlework, lampshade piercing, ceramics, rug hooking and rug braiding. Ernestine was a superb cook and holiday hostess and planner. She also enjoyed traveling and camping around the country and Canada. In addition to her parents, Ernestine was predeceased by her sisters, Muriel and her husband, Frank, and their son, Robert, Marion and her husband, 'Slim,' and their son, Donald, Beulah and her husband, Everett, and their son, Jimmy, Leone and her husband, Sterling, and Dorothy and her husband, Ken, and their son, Kevin; parents-in-law, Benjamin and Clara Cole; sister-in-law, Jean and her husband, Joseph, and their grandson, James; sister-in-law, Anne Chatfield and her husband, George. Surviving, in addition to her husband, David, are her sons, Bruce and his partner, Lynn, Paul and his wife, Tracie, Clayton and his partner, Linda, and Stephen and his wife, Serena; grandchildren, Liza Foley, Danny Cole, Riley Cole, Emily Cole, Brittany Cole, Faith Cole, and Caroline Cole; five great-grandchildren; and a special, longtime friend, Paula Frederick."

[15219] "Fort Worth Star-Telegram [Fort Worth, Texas]," 16 November 2000, p. 37: "Donald Renslow, 69, a retired manager for Southwestern Bell, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 in Arlington. Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, Davis Chapel, Pastor John Foster officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home, Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He was born June 20, 1931 in St. Paul, Minn. He was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and served in the US Army, He was a member of Shepherd Of Life Lutheran Church, also member and past president of Arlington Sunrise Rotary. Don was an avid golfer, receiving many prizes, and had recently joined the Arlington Senior Men's Golf Association. Survivors: Wife of 21 years, Irene Renslow of Arlington; step-son, Daniel Finberg and his wile Liz of Reston, VA.; step-daughters, Nancy Treharne and her husband Alan of London, England and Marcie Forest and her husband Loren of Los Angeles, CA.; grandchildren, Gregory, David, Katie, Camille, Cary and Zara." Donald served as a 1st Lt. in Korea according to his grave marker.
[40495] Verlie is daughter of Frederick Brunell Spurling and Florence E. Stevenson. "Rutland Daily Herald [Rutland, Vermont], 8 November 2006," p. 10: "Mrs. Verlie Vaughan, 97, died Monday evening November 6, 2006, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland. She was bom August 10, 1909, on None Such Island in Bermuda, the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Stevenson) Spurling. Her family moved from Bermuda to Canada and then to Brooklyn, NY, where she went to work at the Chase Manhattan Bank at the age of 15. She met her husband, A. Leslie Vaughan, on a visit with her family to East Poultney and thev were married two weeks later on Mav 25, 1928. Verlie worked at many different jobs while raising three children on the familv farm: the cheese box factory in East Poultney, Kazon dress factory until her retirement and then as a volunteer at local crafts stores. She was a member of the Evergreen Chapter 63 O.E.S. for over 60 years and also a member of the Poultney Grange for many years. She is survived bv her son, Arthur Vaughan of Castleton; her daughter, Collie Warren and her husband Fred of Hampton, NY; by her daughter-in-law, Lois Vaughan; by her nephew, Llewlyn Buck of Arizona; and by her cousin, Robert Brown of New Jersey; also by her 14 grandchildren; her 24 great-grandchildren; and by her one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years; her son, Brunel 'Clem' Vaughan; and also by a stillborn son."
