He was born June 5, 1954 in Jonesport, the son of Alfred A. 'Sonny' and Rosalie E. (Palmer) Blackwood, Jr. Randy grew up in Jonesport, and was a graduate of Jonesport High School, class of 1972. After high school, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served for four years. He then joined the Merchant Marines, retiring as a Chief Mate in the early 2000s. Following his retirement, he worked as a fisherman and scallop dragger until his health prevented him from working. Randy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing at 'the WigWam' on the Machias River, enjoying spending time at his camp on Schoodic Lake. He was an excellent 'campfire cook', and his family and friends enjoyed his meals prepared with cast iron cookware over an open fire. Randy was a great story teller and was often asked to share a tale among his friends. He was a past member of Jonesport Lodge #188, A.F. & A.M., and also the Anah Shrine. Randy loved spending time with his family, who will lovingly miss and fondly remember him. He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Carver of Jonesport; his wife of 24 years, Dot (Mitchell) Blackwood; three children, Kristy Blackwood and her significant other, Joe Murray of Lincoln, Noel Blackwood of Bucksport, and Royce Blackwood of Alabama; two grandchildren, Caden Blackwood and Tyler Blackwood; three brothers, Bill Blackwood and his wife Jane, Ronnie Carver and his wife Lisa, and Stevie Carver, all of Jonesport; nieces and nephews, Shanna Blackwood and her fiancé Dan Rogde, Eric Blackwood and his wife Crystal, Terrell Carver, Amy Matis and her husband Mike, Amber Morse and her partner Laura, and Allison Baker and her husband Cory; special friends, Pete and Barbara Doak, Rob, Nancy, & Tim Heallen, Dan Sawyer and the Wig Wam Crew. and numerous aunts, uncles, great niecesa, great nephews, cousins, and friends. Hutchins, 65, went home to be with his Lord Jesus June 6, 2008, in his wife's arms, surrounded by his family, which he adored, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 25, 1942, in Bucksport, the son of Alton and Eleanor (Grindle) Hutchins. John graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1961 and from the University of Maine in 1965. He had been a teacher and coach at Miami Beach, Belfast and Eastport high schools, as well as numerous business ventures in both Florida and Maine, the last being Soper's Market, East Orland. John was a great athlete, in his younger years play-ing in the college World Series while a student at the University of Maine, and later years in golf tournaments around the country, poker games with his buddies and following the Red Sox. In his latter years, John enjoyed the peace and quite of Orland with his wife of 45 years, Dianne (Soper) Hutchins. He is survived by their son, Lance Hutchins and his wife, Robyn; five grandchildren, Alex, William, Hunter, Gracie and Gabriel; three sisters, Linda Wilson and her husband, Chandler, Brenda Moore and her husband, Dick and Regina Murchie and her husband, Barry; two brothers, Harold Hutchins and his companion, Virginia, and Terry Hutchins; a sister-in-law, Joan Hutchins; his mother-in-law, Zelma So-per; a special sister-in-law, Joanne Sanborn and her husband, Gene; Ritchie and Lee Jay Henderson, who he also thought of as his other sons; special nieces, Muriel, Rhonda, Shelly, Susie, Heidi, Becky, Jessie and Cecilia; special nep-hews, Philip, Ricky, Bill, Harold Jr., Dennis, Brandon, Gordon Jr., Shawn, Mike, Jay, Johnny, Jason, C.W., Jamie Lee, Cooper, Garrett and Grady. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Lyman, Clyde and Gordon; and his sister, Louise."
