[61214] "The Concord Monitor" 29 October 2013: "Harold E. Hews, 85, of Concord, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Hampden, Maine on Nov. 12, 1927, the son of Harold and Mary (Hopkins) Hews. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine and attended college until he was drafted in 1945, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He worked for P.E. Ward Furniture Company in Dover-Foxcroft and then spent 29 years as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Beaver Meadow and Foxcroft Golf Course in Maine. During his retirement, Harold spent summers at his camp on Sebec Lake, Maine which he and his father built 53 years ago. He loved all sports, but enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and family get-togethers more than anything. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jackie Merkey; his son, Larry Robinson; and his brothers, Richard Hews and Paul Hews."
