[45622] "News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 12 September 1994," p. 13: "LUCAS - Eldred 'Al' Briner, 80, of 63 Church St., died Saturday evening at Mansfield General Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Briner was born in Columbus to Cloyd and Ruby Dill Briner. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired custodian of the Lucas Schools. He also was a Lucas village administrator for five years. He is survived by his wife, Dessie Shaw Briner, whom he married Oct. 15, 1943; a son, George 'Bud' Briner; a stepson, Richard Ruble of Huron; a stepdaughter, Janice Lee of Gulfport, Miss.; three grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five step-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Swigart of Lucas, Margaret Constance of Alton, Mich., and Olive Bechley of Little Washington. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jackie Lou Ruble, 1 in 1976 and a sister, Marjorie McCready in 1983. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Byerly Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Nolan Steiner. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville where the VFW Post 8586 will hold military rites."
