He was born in Lisbon, Linn County, Iowa, on September 18, 1865. Luther was united in marriage with Miss Emma A. Giffin, daughter of Fletcher E. and Hannah Catherine Wheeler Giffin, on March 3, 1895. Luther and Emma were the parents of six children, including a set of twins. Their children are Nina G. Farst Wagner, an infant son who died in 1895, Neva Mae Farst Ferguson Ammeter, twin son, Delbert Jacob Farst, twin son Gilbert Fletcher Farst and Virgil Luther Farst. On June 17 of 1904, Luther, age 38 and his father Jacob Farst, age 76, were both badly injured in a 'runaway buggy accident' in Monroe Township on their way to Perrysville. Around February of 1920, Luther worked as a 'land appraiser' in Washington Township, Richland County, Ohio, he also worked at general farming. A surprise party was held in honor of Luther's 71st birthday on 19 September, 1936, and he celebrated with his family and friends. In March of 1942, Luther and Emma Farst celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary with a family party at their home on Prospect Street in Mansfield, Ohio. Luther R., age 77, died at his home on Prospect Street, Mansfield, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at Wappner Funeral Home with Rev. C.L. Kern officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, near Pleasant Hill Lake, Monroe Township, Richland County, Ohio. Many Farst family members are buried at St. John's. (Written by Judy Pence Farst)"

[61010] The unverified file KCSY-85Y in familysearch.org contains this note: "Simeon Haines was born in Exeter, and was an ardent patriot. He was in the war of the Revoluton four and one-half years, being in the campaign which captured Burgoyne, and in the battles of Trenton and Princeton. He was with Benedict Arnold at Stony Point, and at Monmouth; also with Gen. Sullivan in that sad destruction of Indian fields and homes in the beautiful valley of Genesee. After returning from the war he married Wealthy Spencer, with whom he lived sixty-five years in the towns of Dover, Durham, Waldoboro, Alfred, and Swainville, ME. He died at the age of eighty-eight. His wife survived him nearly two years, dying at the age of eighty-four."
