She was born in Columbia, Maine, on October 7, 1933, to Lloyd G. Ames and Leota (Merritt) Ames. She was next to oldest of ten children. Joyce moved to Corinth with her family where she graduated from East Corinth Academy in 1952. She met George in 1953 and they married in 1954. They had 4 children whom they raised in Corinth. Joyce was a substitute teacher at Central High in Corinth for 27 great years. She really loved that job and the kids that she taught. Joyce leaves behind a daughter, Susan King (Dwayne)of Corinth; and a son, Andrew Boone (Annette) of Glenburn. She also leaves three grandsons, Matt Burpee (Michele) of Hampden, Shane Burpee (Tessa) of Brewer, and Christian Boone (Lizzie) of NC; and two granddaughters Lily Boone of Glenburn, and Tabatha King of Waterville; three great-granddaughters, Lexi Burpee of Hampden, Nora Burpee of Brewer, and Elle King of Waterville; three sisters, Ann Lenz, Nancy Campbell, and Louine Sullivan, all of Corinth; two brothers, Lloyd Ames Jr. of Corinth and Doug Ames (Brenda) of Ohio; and many, many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband; her parents; two daughters, two sisters; and two brothers."
[25501] Note: while the name and dates of Sarah are from the unverified OneWorldTree she cannot be the mother of Peter Thorn, as he was b. in 1793 and as she would have been 37 years younger than John Thorn (not impossible, but unlikely).
