[12211] Sir Edmund Grey of Ruthin was created Earl of Kent in 1465. See http://thepeerage.com/p17480.htm in 2010 which reports "He was initially a Lancastrian in the War of the Roses. He fought in the Battle of Northampton on 10 July 1460, where he switched sides, thus probably being the chief cause of the Yorkist victory. He was created 1st Earl of Kent [England] on 30 May 1465." Find A Grave Memorial 119075838 offers: "Through Constance Holland, he was great-grandson of John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster, the third son of King Edward III of England, by his first wife, and thus grand-nephew of King Henry IV of England and Philippa of Lancaster. Grey succeeded his grandfather Reginald Grey, 3rd Baron Grey de Ruthyn in 1440. He married Lady Katherine Percy, a great-grandaughter of John of Gaunt by his third wife, Katherine Swynford, and also a paternal descendant of King Edward III of England through his second son, Lionel of Antwerp, 1st Duke of Clarence. After the death of their first son, the second, George, became his heir and eventually George Grey, 2nd Earl of Kent (d. 15 December 1505)."

Lawrence Dowse of Charlestown, MA. The NEHGS Register July 1883, p. 239, reports the will of Robert Rand of Barham, Co. Suffolk, England 27 Feb 1651, proved 31 March 1651, which includes: "To my son Robert, after my wife's decease, if he do come over, my best feather bed and my best bedstead." - does this indicate that he is father of Robert, now in New England? The Register July 1977 on p. 207 presents a chart of the inhabitants of Charlestown, MA which states that Robert is a husbandman who r. Charlestown in 1635 and in Lynn 1639.
