[18807] Note provided with this line by Jim and Carol Linville Parker (JPARK10@aol.com) in 1998: "Lodowick Hoxie, our imigrant ancestor, came to America as as apprentice hatter working for a man named Dexter; after serving his apprenticeship, he established himself in the same business. he served the town of Sandwich as assessor and in various other capacities. Sometime about 1660, many inhabitants of Sandwich, including Lodowick Hoxie, came under the influence of Friends, or, Quakers, and there established the first Friends Meeting in America. For several generations, a large part of our family remained Quakers and held positions of trust in the Meetings. Lodowick Hoxie married in Dec. 1664, Mary presbury, daughter of John and Katherine Presbury. There children were Ashua, Joseph, Ann, Gideon, Hezekiah, John, Soloman and Content. Joseph and John moved about 1698 to Rhode Island."

Her obituary states "(DAUGHTER OF JOSEPH JEWELL & HANNAH TREMAINS & WIFE OF JACOB BOYERS & MOTHER OF ELEANOR FIDELIA BOYERS SHAFFER) Mrs. Lydia Boyers died at the home of Enos Miley last Monday and was buried last Wednesday. She leaves seven children to mourn her death also a host of friends. She was a faithful member of the disciple Church." Note: The Wayne Co. referenced was in NW Ohio and is the present Fulton Co.
