Briner, 73, died at the Briner homestead in Brookfield township Wednesday morning, following a long illness, resulting from a hip fracture received May 14. Tentative arrangements were to hold the funeral from the Seals chapel in Marseilles Friday at two oclock. Burial will be in the Maxton cemetery in Brookfield. Mrs. Briner was born in Brookfield township, October 20, 1869, a daughter of James Gatchel, a native of Maine and Vileettia Rose Gatchel of Brookfield. She was married to William J. Briner, November 21, 1900. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hans Harms of Brookfield, a brother, Chester Gatchel of Las Animas, Colo, who arrived at the Briner home last week and four grandchildren."

The unverified file LK48-RBY in 2019 in familysearch.org offers: "At the age of 21, Michael left Germany. He was in Phildelphia County in 1749 and as early as 1751 settled in Reading which was then in York County until Adams Co. Was formed from part of York in 1800. York Co. warrant #46 for 100 a.c. in Winndsor Twp May 1762
By 1779 he had 200 a.c. in Reading Twp. At some point, his mother, Anna Justina Elisabeth, a widow, married Wentel Metzel and the couple were sponsors of the baptisms of several of Michael's children. Michael's will, written 25 May 1801-prorated 19 Nov 1801 in Adams County, mentions Anna Justina, wife of Daniel Melown. A William Melown, possibly Daniel's brother, was a witness."
