[54537] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 11 February 2011: "Cherryfield - The Soul that was loaned to Elwood C. Davis Feb. 2, 1928, was returned to the Lord Feb. 6, 2011. He was born in Cherryfield, the last of the 12 children of Arthur P. and Gladys (Willey) Davis. While attending Cherryfield Academy, Elwood worked summers at the local blueberry factories and 60-plus years later returned to Jasper Wyman & Sons at their C & D Compound in Deblois. In the intervening years he served in the U.S. Navy, was a coastal warden with the Maine Department of Sea and Shore Fisheries, was a security guard at Winter Harbor Naval Base and worked on construction of power lines with Seaward Construction, where he traveled from Maine to Florida. Elwood was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Luther 'Brud,' Harry 'Tink' and William 'Billy'; and eight sisters, Helen Harrington, Leola Morse, Marie Leighton, Pearl Ashe, Virginia Davis, Ruthie at one-year-old, Gladys Whitton and Shirley Davis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith (Sullivan) Davis; son and best friend, Kirby Davis and wife, Rebecca, of Cherryfield; a sister-in-law, Adelaide Davis of Cherryfield; a brother-in-law, Anthony Whitton of Leominster, Mass.; many nieces and nephews."

Schwartz, 52, of Valley View, supervising principal of the Tri-Valley Joint School System, died suddenly at his home on Saturday. Mr. Schwartz was a son of James M. and Bertha (Kauffman) Schwartz, and was born in Urban, Northumberland County. He was graduated from Herndon High School, and following his graduation from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, taught for two years in the Clearfield, Pa. Schools. He received his Master's degree from Bucknell University in 1934 and served as principal of the Hegins Township High School from 1934 to 1937. He had served since 1937 as supervising principal of the Hegins Township Schools, which are now part of the Tri-Valley Joint System. Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Reformed Church, Urban. and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Schwartz; a son, James, a student at the Pennsylvania State University, and one grandson."
