[48864] Arthur's obituary: "Art was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on March 29, 1946 to the late Arthur Sr. and Mildred Dunn. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a degree in biochemistry. Art was commissioned as an ensign in the US Navy in 1968 and served as a submarine warfare officer aboard the USS Chivo (SS-341). He was honorably discharged after 28 years of service as a captain in the US Naval Reserves in 1996. Art proudly retired from Shell Oil Co. after 30 years employment as a senior procurement specialist. Art was a dedicated member of the community; coaching soccer with SYSC, volunteering for 15 years at American Legion Post 185, and serving as President of the Board of Directors of Pinewood Golf Club. He was a skilled long distance runner, competing in over 25 marathons, and an honored participant in the 1984 Olympic Torch Relay. Once he retired, Art could usually be found amongst friends on the Pinewood golf course where he shot a "hole in one" and more recently, shot his age. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 40 years, Sheila Agnelly Dunn; his four children, Arthur III (Erin), Matthew (Mandy), Brian (Melanie), and Shannon (Jason); his brother J (Verna). "Pop" will be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Lucas, Stella, Ephram, Reagan, Ali, Mia, and Harper. Art will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery (34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell) followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church (360 Robert Blvd., Slidell) where Art was a member for 40 years."
