[53221] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 7 October 1974: "East Corinth - Harold E. Chapman, 89, widower of Sara Mayo Chapman, died Oct. 5, at a Brewer nursing home after a period of failing health. He was born June 15, 1885, in East Corinth, son of Charles and Nettie (Elden) Chapman. He attended East Corinth Academy and was a member of the East Corinth United Baptist Church. He was a 40-year member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge, Charleston. He was the first commercial producer of baby chicks in New England (1916 to 1928). He purchased the first Farmall tractor in Corinth 1930 and the first Allis Chalmers grain combine in New England in 1936 and owned the first of many other farm machines doing custom tractor farming. He is survived by three sons, Walter of Newcomb, N.Y., Eugene of Roseville, Calif., and Kenneth of Littleton; one daughter, Mrs. Warren (Kathryn) Gammons, Cape Elizabeth; two sisters, Miss Ena Chapman and Mrs. Nellie Bickmore, both of East Corinth; 13 granchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins."

[59531] Boyd served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 26 Aprill 2005: "Bucksport - Boyd J. Hopkins, 73, died April 23, 2005, at his home, after a long and valiant fight with cancer. He was born Feb. 14, 1932, the oldest son of Marion (Ingalls) and Herbert Hopkins. He attended Bucksport schools until his senior year when he attended and graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1950. Boyd was a charter member of DeMolay Ellsworth Order. He then was in Felicity Lodge No. 19, where he went through all chairs in Blue Lodge and was a past master of Blue Lodge. He was also in Bucksport Commandry. Boyd was an active member of grange. He was master of Verona and Narramisic Grange and also a member of Hancock Pemona and State grange. Boyd was a charter member of the 4-H Clover Club, and a past leader of the Millvale Helping Hands. A member and past president of the Hancock County Leaders Assoc. As well as a past member of the Hancock County Executive Committee. He was in charge of 4-H Government Day and also built the 4-H Food Booth with others at Blue Hill Fair. Boyd had been a member of the Hancock County Agricultural Society for more than 30 years. Boyd was also a member of the East Bucksport Methodist Church, where he served a time as Sunday school superintendent. He also served as president of the Bucksport PTA and had been a notary public in the community for many years. Boyd served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955, where he was in the 65th Army MP Corp. stationed in Austria. He also had the distinction of being a sharp shooter. Boyd was employed by Seaboard, St. Regis and Champion Paper Companies for 43 years. He was a member of Labor Union 1188 where he served as secretary/ treasurer for about 16 years. For the past five years, he worked for Sheehan's Florist after his retirement from Champion. Boyd leaves behind a loving wife of 52 years, Barbara (Strout) Hopkins; two daughters, Methel Wilbur and her husband, Joey, of Eastbrook and Sandra Nason of Bucksport; two grandsons, Justin and his wife, Brandi, and Zach; and one granddaughter, Jennifer; one brother, Ronald and wife, Joyce, of Searsport; one half brother, Harold; one half sister, Kathy George and husband, Alfred; and one stepbrother, Vinal Dewitt. He also leaves many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by very special friends, Maddy Cole, Brenda Pelletier, Margaret and Dave Chavaree, Herb and Irene Atwood and Jesse Rollins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Paul Hopkins."
