[53291] Marjorie is daughter of Wallace Reuben Carter (b. in 1891) & Rebecca Belle Kimball (b. in1885; m. 2 August 1913 in Somerville, Middlesex Co., MA). Her obituary: "Stonington - Marjorie E. Billings, 89, of Stonington, died at a Bangor nursing home on Nov. 15, 2013. She was born May 12, 1924, in Somerville, Mass., to Wallace R. and Rebecca (Kimball) Carter. She grew up and attended school in Somerville. Marge attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, upon graduation from Somerville High School. She then enlisted in the Women's Army Corps and was stationed in Boston. Marge married Winfield T. Billings in 1945 and they lived in Somerville for five years, spending summers in Stonington. In 1951, they moved to Stonington and then moved to Ellsworth, in 1971, where Marge made many friends through church activities and her work as a waitress. In 1993, they moved back to Stonington to enjoy their retirement. Marge is survived by sons, Lawrence and his wife, Jane, of Stonington, Mark and his wife, Jeannie, of Ellsworth, David and his fiancée, Sharon Bates, of Brewer and Burnham and Scott of Ellsworth. She is survived by daughters, Rebecca Thompson, Susan Thompson-Weed and her husband, Raymond, of Stonington, and Wendy Young and her husband, Mike, of Ellsworth. Marge is survived by 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Marge will also be missed by special friends, Bob and Dick Powers of Deer Isle and Kathy Billings of Bangor. In addition to her husband of 66 years, Marge was predeceased by her parents; brother, Wallace K. Carter; and sister, Ruth Alice (Carter) Briggs. She was also predeceased by son-in-law, Allen Thompson."

He had one son and three daughters with Amy Kniffen. He died on September 23, 1866, in Ruggles, Ohio, at the age of 73, and was buried in Savannah, Ohio."

[59599] "The Calais Advertiser [Calais, Maine]," 11 Octobewr 1950: "Edward Dean, 67, died at his Palm street home, Woodland, following a long illness. He was born in Woodland, son of Edward and Elizabeth Jellison Dean, and had worked as a laborer there most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edward Dean, Woodland; three sons, William H., Milltown, Me.; Lawrence F., Calais, and Everett F., Woodland. Six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Eaton, Everett, Mass., Mrs. Evelyn Hanson, Woodland, Mrs. Madeline Perkins, of Woodland, Mrs. Barbara Flood, of Alexander, and Miss Edith Dean of Woodland; a brother, William H., Woodland, and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held at his late residence Thursday afternoon, Oct. 5, with the Rev. George Henry of Lubec officiating. Bearers were Ernest Leighton, Henry Kidder, Ralph Sprague, Everett Perkins, Charles Miller and Church Wallace. Burial was in the Woodland cemetery."

One of the most serious errors in the Durkee Ledger, was the omission of Joseph, 3rd son of Thomas and Elizabeth. He removed early to Preston, Connecticut and married there Abigail Hodge on March 10, 1729/30. Abigail was the daughter of Henry Hodge and his wife Sarah (Welch). She was baptized in 1713 in Preston. Joseph and Abigail had 6 children. Joseph, born April 7, 1731, married his cousin Elizabeth Fiske, daughter of Elizabeth (Durkee). They had 12 children all born in Windham. This family later removed to Stockbridge, Vermont. The second child was Robert, born January 29, 1732/3. He married Mehitable Paine, June 3, 1755 and had 10 children. They moved about a great deal, living in Canterbury and Woodstock, Connecticut, Brimfield, Massachusetts and Newport, New Hampshire.
The first daughter, Abigail, was baptized on October 5, 1735. She married Stephen Chapman on May 24, 1759, in Woodstock, Connecticut. 3 children were recorded in Woodstock. It is likely that they then moved to another location where additional children were born. Unfortunately, we have not discovered where they moved and have no further information on Abigail's family. Another child was born to Joseph and Abigail and was baptized on August 21, 1737. The name and sex of the child was not recorded and it died in 1739. A son, Moses, was baptized on October 7, 1739 but he died young and another son, also named Moses, was baptized on May 24, 1741. This younger Moses was left out of the Durkee Ledger entirely and it was only through the efforts of Anson and Sadiebeth Lowitz that his descendants have been identified. The name of his wife has never been discovered. Moses lived in New York and served in the Revolutionary War. His pension record was instrumental in solving some of the mysteries about his life.
It most have been shortly after the birth of the younger Moses, that the father Joseph died. Abigail was remarried to Benjamin Bugbee on January 5, 1744 and had 5 more children by him.

Freeman died on Saturday evening at 7.30 o'clock at his residence on MAIN street, Freemansburg, aged sixty-eight years. The cause of death was dropsy, with which Dr. Freeman had been ailing for two years. A native of Easton, Dr. Freeman in his early boyhood moved with his parents, the late Dr. George W. and Matilda (Seip) Freeman, to Freemansburg, where he received his early school training. Later he entered Schwartz's Academy, Bethlehem, and then Lehigh University, which he left In his Sophomore year to enter the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation from the latter institution with the class of 1873 he became associated with his father, who had a large practice in Freemansburg. Upon the death of his father In 1898 he retired from the medical profession to give his time and attention to his many other business interests. Dr. Freeman was formerly chief burgess of the borough of Freemansburg, and at other times served in the town council and school board. He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, of which he was treasurer for many years and many times proved himself a benefactor to the congregation. He was married on May 24, 1877, to Emily J., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Knecht, of Shimersville. He leaves his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Robert S. Mueller, of Baltimore, Md., two grandchildren and a brother, Dr. Walter S. Freeman, of Philadelphia." The 19 July 1860 federal census at Freemansburg Borough, Northampton Co., PA shows Edward, age 8, in the household of George and Matilda Freeman.
