[59711] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 28 June 2025: "Waerenga, NZ, New Zealand - Mary Marshall Gray passed away in Hamilton, New Zealand, after a long illness, on June 17, 2025. She was 79. She was born in Bangor and lived in Old Town, until 1964 when the family moved to Puckerbrush Farm in Newburgh. Marshall was the granddaughter of one of the founders of the Old Town Canoe Company. She graduated from the Fox Hollow School in Pittsfield, Mass. She was active in the U.S. Pony Club achieving an 'A' rating, its highest level in the Penobscot Pony Club. Marshall was an avid equestrian all her life, especially in jumping and cross-country competitions, winning trophies in the U.S. and Canada. She was an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic 3 Day Team and attended the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Marshall moved to Waerenga, New Zealand, in 1995 and acquired a farm where she raised fruits, vegetables, laying hens, and beef. She became an equine massage therapist. She was very active in the Hamilton Bonzai Club and won prizes nationally and internationally. She loved the outdoors and kayaked and hiked and worked her gardens and doted on her various cats. She was known locally as the "Blueberry Lady" sharing her fruits with the community. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the War Memorial Church in Te Kauwhata. She was the daughter of Corinne F. Gray and S. Braley Gray Jr. She is survived by her sister, Lendon F. Gray; and her brother, G. Alexander (Zandy) Gray. She was predeceased by her brother, S. Braley (Beegie) Gray III."
