He was born in Wesley, Nov. 11, 1912, the son of Leon and Winifred (Cool) Archer. He was a graduate of Bradford High School Class of 1931. He owned and operated the Woodrow Archer Saw Mill in Stetson from 1935 until 1976, when it burned. From 1976 until the time of his death he was employed as the postmaster relief person at the Stetson Post Office. He was a member and head deacon of the Stetson Union Church. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge in Etna, and a member and past master of the Pleasant Lake Grange No. 370 of Stetson. He was also a member of the Pamona and State granges. He was a former first selectman and school board member in the town of Stetson. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Fern (Strout) Archer of Stetson; two sons, Reginald A. Archer of Gloversville, N.Y., and Craig L. Archer of Stetson; five daughters, Jacquelyn L. Tardiff of Brewer, Kathleen M. Underhill of Stetson, Lorraine A. Thibodeau of Levant, Theresa E. Gray and Carol F. Laplant, both of Stetson; two brothers, Wesley C. Archer of Brewer and Waldo B. Archer of East Eddington; two sisters, Avis E. Wark of Kayenta, Ariz., and Almeda M. Mellott of Glenburn; 19 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
