Find A Grave memorial 134039572 provides his obituary: "Born on October 20, 1928 in Bellflower, CA, Richard Cady Course left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife Gloria and children; Judi Seavers of Felton, Jim Course (Tracy) of Auburn, Sharon Barbour (Jason) of Gilroy, and Linda Manley (Brian) of Scotts Valley,11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, brother Charles Course (Barbara) of Cypress and numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1953 he was introduced to the love of his life, Gloria. They married and lived in Southern California until 1959 when they discovered the beauty of the Santa Cruz area. Finally settling in Scotts Valley, they lived there until retirement. Known as Dick to his friends, he was an active member of the then First Baptist Church of Scotts Valley, where he served for many years as a deacon. For 33 years, Dick was employed at Lockheed Missiles and Space as an Ordinance Test Engineer. Though projects were security classified and he couldn't discuss his work, his family knew he was proud of his contribution to the US space and defense programs. After retirement, Dick and Gloria relocated to Pollock Pines where he continued to serve at their new church home at the First Baptist Church and with the Pony Express Lions Club where he served as treasurer. Diick loved to volunteer - at the Gold Discovery Park in Coloma as a docent blacksmith and as a handyman for missionary assistance, traveling with Gloria and a team of others throughout the Western US helping churches and camps wherever needed. In both he displayed his passion for working with his hands and helping others. Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and his family, metal and wood working and tinkering with mechanical devices, be they car engines or door locks. His children and grandchildren have fond memories of working alongside him to rebuild Volkswagen Bugs, building and refinishing furniture, and as he worked at the blacksmith forge in Coloma. Dick's love of wood working was evident in the furniture he created and his careful restoration of vintage furniture and clocks. He had an avid interest in his heritage and family ancestry. Dick and Gloria made several trips throughout the US and Europe to research deeper in to his family heritage, ultimately finding a 300 year old ancestral home in England. Dick also had a lifelong appreciation for music, which he exercised by singing in the church choir and learning to play the piano, accordion, banjo and harmonica."
