[41142] Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, 21 May 1918 reported: "Paul D. J. Smith, 15-year-old son of Dr. and Mrs. E. D. Smith, 639 Putnam Street, died suddenly late yesterday afternoon, death being due to heart trouble. The decedent was a junior at the Fort Wayne High School, and was a member of the Trinity M. E. Church and Sunday School. Surviving relatives include, besides the parents, two brothers, Lawrence M. Smith, a member of Battery B, One Hundred and Fiftieth Field Artillery, in France, and Ernest D. Smith, Jr., of this city."
