[20831] Hugh and Joan also had Herbert and Agnes. http://www.thepeerage.com/p78.htm offers: "Hugh (I) de Neville also went by the nick-name of Hugh 'the Farmer'. He fought in the King Richard's Third Crusade in 1190. He fought in the siege of Jaffa in 1192. He held the office of Keeper of Marlborough Castle in 1194. He held the office of Sheriff of Essex from 1198 to 1199. He held the office of Chief of the Itinerant Justices of the Forest before 1199. He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1202 to 1203. He held the office of Sheriff of Essex from 1202 to 1203. He held the office of Forester in 1203, for life (possibly Chief Forester of all England). He held the office of Treasurer before 27 January 1208/9. He held the office of Keeper of the seaports between Cornwall and Hampshire in 1213. In June 1215 in Runymede, he was a member of King John's entourage at the signing of the Magna Carta. He surrended Marlborough to King Louis VIII of France when the latter invaded England at the behest of the barons ranged against King John, this forfeiting his lands and offices. In October 1217 his lands and the Forestership were restored to him. He held the office of Keeper of the Forest in 1224. He held the office of Chief Justice in 1224. He held the office of Chief of the Commissioners in 1225, to take evidence as to the bounds of forests thorughout the country, preparatory to the disafforestation of large tracts. He held the office of Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1227. In December 1233 he was directed to fortify the defences of Stoke Courcy, Somerset, to prevent the landing of an enemy."
[61717] David Emery served in a variety of regiments from Feb 1775 til Dec 1779. He was present at Valley Forge and a member of General Washington's Guard. The unverified file L89D-6K4 in familysearch.org offers: "When David Emery was born on 24 September 1754, in Dracut, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Jonathan Emery, was 31 and his mother, Jerusha Barron, was 19. He married Abigail Goodwin on 5 April 1782, in Kennebec, Maine, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 18 November 1834, in Fairfield, Somerset, Maine, United States, at the age of 80, and was buried in Fairfield, Somerset, Maine, United States."
