[56135] Austin's obituary: "Deer Isle and Ellsworth - Austin W. Weed, 87, passed away on February 23, 2024, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born in Little Deer Isle on June 18, 1936, the son of Elmer D. Weed and Alecia M. (Eaton) Weed. Austin married his beloved wife, Ann E. Poitras, in 1960. They then went on to have seven children. Austin worked in many trades, some of which included stone cutting, lawn maintenance, and carpentry. He loved anything to do with the ocean and spent much of his time clamming and fishing for mackerel. He also loved making things from wood, such as small boats, houses, and trucks. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting his family and friends. Austin is survived by his children: Ronald Weed of Stonington, Tammy Weed of Orono, Patricia (Weed) Eaton and partner Matt of Deer Isle, Clinton Weed of Sedgwick, Judy (Weed) Dunham and husband Nathan of Sunset, Robert Weed and wife Rebecca of Stonington, David Weed and wife Jessica of Deer Isle; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; lots of nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Robert Poitras of Frankfort; sister-in-law Myra Weed of Deer Isle; brothers and sisters, Robert, Madelene, Bernice, and Tony. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Ann E. (Poitras) Weed; brothers and sisters, Mildred, Arlene, Richard, Charlotte, Elwell, Cleveland, Vivian, and Alecia; son-in-law Jeffery Eaton."
