He was born in Troy, Maine, January 28, 1939 the son of Harry and Grace (Dunn) Leavitt. Earl was a self employed woodsman for most of his life. He was an avid outdoors man especially while Coon hunting (his favorite pastime.) He enjoyed his greenhouse and raising and selling flowers. He was a family man, loved being with family and especially his grandchildren. they were the 'joy of his life'. Earl is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years Therolin V. Leavitt of Palmyra, one son and his wife Earl L. Leavitt Jr. and Maxine, of Newport, one daughter, Melissa Ramsey of Palmyra, three grandchildren; Samantha, Aaron, and Emma, four brothers; Howard Leavitt and his wife Nancy of Glenburn, Harland Leavitt and his wife Debbie of Glenburn, Galen Leavitt and his wife Ervina of Palmyra. Harry Leavitt Jr. and his wife Louise of Palmyra, one sister and her husband Patricia and Richard Holt of Oakland, sister-in-law, Lorrain Leavitt of Hartland, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Eric Ramsey, two brothers Carroll, and Linwood, and a sister Leola."

Willey, 84, died Tuesday morning at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was bom at Palmyra June 24, 1877, son of Orrin and Helen (Raynes) Willey. He had been a resident here for the past five years, where he had made his home with a 'nephew', Perley Spencer. He had lived most of his life in Troy where he was engaged in farming. Survivors include two sons, Almon of Farmington and Harvey Willey of Hartland; a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Hamm of Hartland; a sister, Mrs. May Emery of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews."
