[1341] Richard was "of Scrooby, England and at Leyden married, 1619, Mary Goodale of Leicester, Eng." - "Ye Atte Wood Annals." Benjamin Shurtleff's MS in Wisconsin Historical Society Library states "Richard Masterson was from Sandwich, England; came to America in 1629 and died where now is Windsor, Connecticut, in the summer of 1633 [sic]." The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File (23V9-R2K) reports that he was b. in 1603 in Scrooby, England and d. in 1622 in Windsor, CT. He was a "Separatist" recorded at Leyden as a woolcarder from Sandwich. He was a deacon in the church. He is supposed to have arrived on the "second Mayflower" - see "Saints and Stranger," George F. Willison (New York: Reynal & Hitchcock, 1945), p. 268.
