Kenneth, the son of Burleigh Mortan Snowman and Josephine Ella Coombs Snowman, was born Feb. 23, 1927, at the family home in Castine. He was the youngest of seven children. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Burleigh and Josie; his parents-in-law, William Sumner Wilson and Virginia Pearl Snowman Wilson of Bucksport; his beloved wife of 54 years, Edwina Dare Wilson Snowman; his cherished grandson, Jason Kenneth Finch of Charlotte, N.C.; his brothers, Frederick and Reginald; sisters, Arlene and Claire; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dottie Snowman, Joe Maddox, Angelo Pessolano, Chester Smith and Fred Ames. Ken is survived by his three loving children, Deborah and husband, Ken Finch, of Oxnard, Calif., Cathrine and husband, Harold Cohen, of Pensacola, Fla., and Andrew and wife, Meredith, of Woodland; his grandchildren, Gregory Finch and wife, Amy, of Wilmington, N.C., Jasons wife, Kathryn, of Charlotte, N.C., Kylie (Snowman) and husband, Matt James, of Syracuse, N.Y., Kelsy Dare Snowman of Bangor, Hunter and Kade Snowman of Woodland; his special friend, Joyce Dean; sisters, Regina Smith and Beryle Ames; and sister-in-law, Joanne LeClair, all of Bucksport; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Ken attended elementary school in Orland at Cranes Corner one-room schoolhouse. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1945 after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in Guam, the Philippines, Japan and Mississippi. Upon discharge from the service, he earned his college degree under the GI Bill. He attended college in New Hampshire and Vermont, earning his degree from Husson College, Bangor. His first teaching jobs were in Sherman Mills, Monson and Phillips. In 1959, he moved his family to Woodland - Baileyville, where he taught high school and was the assistant principal. It was in Woodland that he began his second successful career as an Allstate agent. Ken retired from the education field in 1986 and from his insurance business in 2004. Ken was an avid fisherman. He and Dare enjoyed many hours out on the boat always on the search for 'the big one.' His specialty was homemade spaghetti sauce - with special ingredients he would not reveal. Put that spaghetti sauce with Dares biscuits and a feast was to be had! We could always count on him for that special touch of humor and play on words - he always had us laughing. Time with family was a top priority. Ken and Joyce, his companion of six years, were fans of the Celtics, Patriots and the Red Sox and didnt miss a game. Throughout the years, Ken planned many 'mystery rides' with family and friends."
