[46480] The unverified file LJLT-7TF in familysearch.org in 2020 includes this note: "Salem Witch Trial Victim. Convicted of practicing witchcraft and hanged during the Salem Witch Trials. Twenty benches stand in a Memorial for the victims, one for each who were actively put to death (not counting those who died in prison). She was born between 1643 & 1650 to Andrew & Faith (Ingalls) Allen of Andover MA. She married Thomas Carrier, aka Morgan, a recently arrived bondservant, 7 May 1664, when she was 7 months pregnant with her eldest child. She unsuccessfully nursed her father & brothers in the 1690 smalpox epedemic, and thereby became a land owner in her own right. Some believe that she was accused of witchcraft in Salem in 1692 because she was a niece of the Rev. Francis Dane of Andover. (Over one third of the Salem accused were related to him or his wife in some way.) Martha's trial was fully transcribed at the direction of Cotton Mather, who believed this case to represent the strongest case for the use of spectral evidence. The evidence he found persuasive was the testimony of Martha's 16-year old-son, Richard, and her 12-year-old daughter, Sarah, that she made them become witches to "haunt" others at her direction. However, John Proctor (who was hanged the same day as Martha) wrote the governor that he witnessed these children's torture in the jail where he was also imprisoned: they were reportedly tied neck to ankles (with a rope down their backs) and left that way until said what their interrogators wanted to hear. Salem erected a memorial in a downtown park for her and each other person hung (or, in one case, pressed to death) during the hysteria. The 'witches' hanged at Salem were dumped in a nearby ravine."

[56405] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 1 July 2023: "Islesford - Harvey Lee Bunker died at home on November 29, 2023. Harvey was born on January 8, 1939, in Southwest Harbor, Maine, to Alvah and Dorothy (Bryant) Bunker. He attended the Islesford School and Higgins Classical Institute, graduating in 1956. Harvey enlisted in the Army and served for three years in Germany and brought a Volvo back home. He lived the majority of his life on Little Cranberry Island, where he followed in his grandfather's footsteps. He then went into the building business after working for Bart Bartlett and his brother in-law, Bob Palmer, eventually opening his own business. Harvey had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor, and was often known by his mischievous smile. He was kind and generous and always stepped up when another needed help. He loved children and children loved him. He also loved dogs no matter how much he protested, especially his favorite dog, Katie. Harvey loved his island and served as master of the Grange, chief of the Fire Department and the EMT before EMTs were established. He was the islands representative for the Bangor Hydro company, solving minor power outages, and many times would switch the island's electricity back on. He was also head of the Islesford Congregational Church. Harvey loved hunting and fishing with friends and spending time at camp with his good friend, Dennis Ryan. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Dorothy (Bryant) Bunker; and his sisters, Mona Blood, Hazel Eggleston, Audrey Barton, and Gloria Gordon. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his daughters, Darcie Carson and Teresa Bunker; his grandson, Nathan Carson; sister, Shirley Crowley, one of Evelyn's favorites; his father-in-law, Frank Boxley Sr. and wife, Betty; brother-in-law, Frank Boxley Jr; sister-in-law, Jinny Boxley; and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Harvey's caregivers and the Palmer families, all of which made life easier. You were fun, with more laughter than we could imagine and you brought so much joy to our lives."
[57980] The unverified file L2Q2-PMQ in familysearch.org offers: "When Gladys B.
