Alcorn, 76, of Erie, formerly of Wesley in Venango County, died peacefully from his early life to his heavenly home Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Erie, after an extended illness. Born Jan. 21, 1933, in Ringold Township, Jefferson County, he was the son of Charles L. Alcorn and Arabelle L. Enterline Alcorn. He married Margaret "Peg" Alcorn, Sep. 24, 1954. She passed away Nov. 8, 2005. They were married 51 years. Mr. Alcorn first worked after the service of Victory School, where he hung plaster when the school was being buiilt. After that, he worked at HT Osborn Construction for a short time. He then was employed at Cooper Bessemer in Grove City for nine years until his disability on May 17, 1964. Later in life, Mr. Alcorn transported the Amish for 17 years on many trips, locally and out of town, before retiring to Erie to be closer to his children. He was an advid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Alcorn joined the Army in April 1950 and was stationed in Germany in occupation forces for three years. He was discharged April 16, 1954. Mr. Alcorn was an active member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, until he moved to Erie in 2005. Upon moving to Erie, he became a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Alcorn was past member of the Clinton-Irwin Rod and Gun Club. He was a past president of Venango County Federation of Sportsman`s Clubs. Surviving are six children, Marvin Alcorn and his wife Deb, of Illinois, Douglas Alcorn of Erie, Richard Gross and his wife, Karola, of Germany, Debbie Alcorn of Erie, Marcia Cass and her husband, Steve, of Erie and Pam Kindle and her husband, Dan, of Erie; four sisters, Linda Bryant and her husband, Rob, of Virginia, Donna Early and her husband, Steve,of Eau Claire, Shirley Kelly of Harrisville and Jean Reitz of Brookville; three brothers, Bill Alcorn of Greenville, Charles "Junior" Alcorn of Harrisville and Ronald Alcorn of Grove City; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Raymond, Robert and Clarence Alcorn, and two sisters Helen Guiste and Delores Heslop." His wife, Margaret L. _____ (20 Sep 1936 - 8 Nov 2005) is buried with him.

She attended Penobscot schools and graduated from Clark High School. Becky had a strong work ethic. She started her career in healthcare as an X-Ray technician at Castine Hospital, later graduating at the top of her class from Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and the Director of Nursing at Island Nursing before retiring. Becky was an accomplished seamstress. She designed and created several heirloom quilts including a bi-centennial display of Penobscot landmarks. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours in her green house, vegetable and flower gardens. Among her beautification projects was the creation and maintenance, for many years, of the window boxes and shrubbery around the Penobscot Town Hall. Becky was a member of the Penobscot Historical Society and donated the building, which is now 'the General Store.' In addition to her parents, Becky was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, brother, Robert Leach and sister, Esther Austin, nephew, Kerry Leach and nephew, Benjamin Austin. She is survived by daughters, Darlene Baut and husband, Harry of Nevada; Debby Brown and husband, Eric of Benton; sisters, Rose and husband, Halford Grindell of Penobscot; Margaret and husband, Norris Austin of Penobscot; Roberta Burbank of Bangor; brother-in-law, James Austin and sister-in-law, Nancy Leach. Becky leaves four grandchildren, Greg Smith and wife, Melisa of Nevada, Addie Buck and husband, Shawn of Clinton, Michael Brown and wife, Isabella of Massachusetts and Paige Brown of Northport. Becky also leaves six great-grandchildren, Jon, Henry, Noah, Lillian, Andrew and Julian. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to include a special nephew, Jack."
