Carroll was born January 16, 1933, in Blue Hill, the only child of Howard and Etta (Bridges) Nevells. He grew up in Sedgwick and Brooklin, Maine, and graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1951. Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Morocco, Japan, and Dow A.F. Base. He was a truck driver, bookkeeper, then office manager for Tabenken Distributors in Bangor and Caribou. He worked in Lincoln as a bank manager and later as Postmaster and letter carrier in Lee and Lincoln, Maine. Carroll attended Beal College as a non-traditional student. He served as School Board President of M.S.A.D. #30 and was a charter member of Hospital Administrative District #1 Board for Penobscot Valley Hospital. Carroll was a member of Gateway Coin Club and Lincoln Congregational Church Men's Club. He and Lindsay delivered food to the Springfield Congregational Church food cupboard for 18 years. In retirement, Carroll was a flea market entrepreneur and a driver for local car dealerships. Just over a week ago, Carroll delivered a used vehicle from Mercer to Lincoln. Carroll leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Lindsay (Weatherbee) Nevells of Lee; son, Ralph and wife, Mary, of Eliot, Maine; daughter, Tracey Nute and husband, Kris, of Lee; grandchildren, Victoria Merry (Jared) of Lee, Riannon Nute of Dover, NH, Leigh Nevells of Tucson, AZ, Ian Nevells (Annie) and Nathan Nevells (Kristy) and their mother, Kim Nevells, all of Wells, Rebecca Little of So. Berwick, and Mikalah Little of Saco; two honorary grandchildren, Cory and Miranda Bowker; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Cadence, Jaxon, Bradley, Bruin, Nora, Kaledonia, and Asher. Carroll will terribly be missed by a wonderful array of friends, neighbors, and relatives."
