"Morning Sentinel," 13 May 1936, p. 7: "Mrs. Vesta E Haney, died at her home on Lawrence Street at noon Thursday. Eighty-five years old, having been born in the town of North Penobscot, Me., in 1850, she was the daughter of George W and Lucy Leach . She was educated in the schools of the town of her birth and was united in marriage in the same place to Rodney F Haney on Feb. 7, 1869. She was the mother of two sons, George S and Archie W Haney. At the time of her death she was living with the latter son and his wife with whom she has long made her home. She was one of the leading working members of the Methodist Church of her native town and later became a member by transfer of the Pleasant Street Methodist Episcopal Church of this city. She was a very kind and industrious mother.
She leaves one son, Archie W Haney, three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Caroline Saunders of Woonsocket, R. I., and one brother, George W Leach of North Chelmsford, Mass."
