Vivian I. (nee Kenniston) Conner believed that he is the John who recruited a company of Militia at Falmouth 21 April 1775 and marched them to regimental headquarters where they enrolled 24 April 1775 - they then marched to the local army headquarters. This John died following military service at Ipswich, Mass. He purchased a tract at Saccarappa in 1762 which he then farmed. [See "Early settlers of Harrison, Maine : with an historical sketch of the settlement, progress and present condition of the town," G. T. Ridlon (Skowhegan, ME: Kilby & Woodbury, 1877), p. 34, states "Capt. John Brackett was a man of learning and position; he was a land surveyor by profession, and laid out a great part of the city of Portland" - and states he is father of Lucy who m. Asael Foster. This incorrect link has been disproven.] See "Revolutionary War Graves Register," Clovis H. Brakebill, compiler (SAR, 1993), also "SAR Revolutionary War Graves Register CD," (Buffalo, NY: Progeny Publishing Co., 1998). "Genealogical History of the Quinby (Quimby) Family...," Henry Cole Quinby (New York: 1915), p. 228, states that John was a land surveyor who r. at Saccarappa (now Westbrook). John's company of 61 men is referenced by "History of Colonel Edmund Phinney's 31st Regiment of Foot," Nathan Goold (Portland, ME: Thurston, 1896), p. 19 - and John is identified as son of Anthony Bracket and wife Sarah Knight on p. 37. "Massachusetts Militia Companies and Officers in the Lexington Alarm," call number REF E241/L6/H35 in the NEHGS Library lists in No. XI, Vol. 218, Capt. John Brackett of Falmouth. See "Early settlers of Harrison, Maine: with an historical sketch of the settlement, progress and present condition of the town," G T Ridlon (Skowhegan [Me.] : Kilby & Woodbury,1877), pp. 34ff. Also see " Brackett Genealogy...," Herbert Ireson Brackett (Washington, D.C.: self published, 1907), pp. 415ff.
NOTE: "The Narragensett Sun", 14 Nov 1895 (Portland, ME), published "The History of Westbrook, Chapter XIV" in which our John Brackett, son of Anthony and Mary, is shown NOT to be the John who served in the War for Independence and died in MA - of our John Brackett the article states "John, who married Mary Fabyan of Scarborough. He lived in Saccarappa in the same land now owned by Mrs. Conant on the old Gorham road. His son John, Jr., married Jane Warren, daughter of John and Jane (Johnson) Warren, and sister of the well-known lumber merchants John and Nathaniel Warren. He lived at one time on the farm in Gorham, now owned by Samuel Fenderson, but subsequently removed with his family to Parsonfield. John Brackett, Sr., had other children as follows. Mary married Eleazer Burbank, Lucy married Asahel Foster of Harrison, and Sally who married 1st Simeon Quinby and 2nd Thomas Mayberry. She was the mother of the late Charles Quinby, who lived on Main street, where B.F. Roberts now lives, and of Simeon Mayberry, who lived on the Windham road in the house now owned by Abner L. Hawkes."

[1693] Leo VI reigned 886-912 as Emperor at Constantinople. "Ancestral Roots..." (7th Edition, 1992), notes re: line 141A: "Uncertain whether Leo was son of Michael or of Basil" by Eudocia Ingerina, mistress of Michael III and later wife of Basil I. "The Oxford Dictionary of Byzantium" (NY: Oxford U. Press, 1991), II:1263, shows Leo as son of Basil I, founder of the Macedonian dynasty, and Eudocia Ingerina. http://www.san.beck.org/AB15-ByzantineEmpire.html reports "After his first wife Theaphano died in 897, Leo VI married his mistress Zoe a few months later; but she died without a son in 899. Leo then married the Phrygian Eudocia Baiana the next summer even though a third marriage violated the canon laws Leo had just codified, and the church complained; yet in 901 she died in child-birth, soon followed by the child. Disliking his brother Alexander, Leo wanted a son, and in 905 Zoe Carbonopsina gave him one. Patriarch Nicholas Mysticus baptized the boy Constantine the following January as the Emperor promised to separate from Zoe. Yet three days later in a private ceremony Leo married Zoe and proclaimed her Augusta. The angry Patriarch forbade the Emperor to enter a church on Christmas or Epiphany. So Leo received a dispensation from Pope Sergius III and forced Nicholas to resign, appointing the pliant Euthymius. In 911 Leo crowned his son Constantine Co-emperor. When Leo died of illness the next year, the hated Alexander became Emperor with the young Constantine as his colleague."
[33167] Catherine is said to be daughter of William Henry Grove and Cornelia Clay. Ancestry.com offers: "Grove Name Meaning - English: topographic name for someone who lived by a grove or thicket, Middle English grove, Old English graf. English (Huguenot): Americanized spelling of the French surname Le Grou(x) or Le Greux (see Groulx). North German form of Grob. North German: habitational name from any of several places named Grove or Groven in Schleswig-Holstein, which derive their name from Middle Low Germany grove 'ditch', 'channel'. In some cases the name is a Dutch or Low German form of Grube. Altered form of German Graf."
[29404] http://www.spoonergen.com states Sally is daughter of John Hodgkins and Rebecca Rice.
[45062] In 2019 the unverified files at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nye-4 offers: "SOURCES: 'Soldiers of Oakham Massachusetts,' Page 114 by Henry Parks Wright Tuttle, Morehouse & Taylor Press 1914 New Haven, CT. Will of Caleb Nye written 13 Dec 1775. NOTE: In 1736 Caleb moved to Barnstable. He stayed here 20 years, then finally moved on to Hardwick. His will was written in Hardwick 13 Dec 1775, and proved 05 Jun 1787."
