[9731] John enlisted 23 Feb 1864 in the Union Army as a Private and was transfered to reserve status 11 March 1865. The 1880 federal census lists John and his family in Saville Twp., Perry Co., PA. "The Perry County Democrat, 29 August 1900," p. 3: "John Hollenbaugh died at his residence in Saville township on Tuesday of dropsy. He had been blind for some years. Interment in the Methodist cemetery at Bixler on Friday, four brothers of this family have died in a little over four years time. Daniel died in the hospital at Pittsburg a little over a year ago while on his way home from Ohio. Two brothers survive : William C, of Kistler, and J. T. Hollenbaugh, of this place."

He was born on March 20, 1932, in Mapleton, ME and is the son of Alice (Woods) and Vernon Perkins. Earl graduated Bucksport High School in 1950. He served in the 40th Infantry Division in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Earl was an avid book reader. He also loved working and creating many things with wood. He loved a good glass of Scotch or Whiskey and spending time with family and friends. Earl worked in the paper industry in Bucksport, ME for 39 years and as a consultant for 3 more years. He made many great friends during his time there. Earl is survived by his son, Jay and fiancée, Cheryl Daigle of Surry and Frenchville, and daughter, Patti of Bucksport; grandchildren, Elisha Perkins and partner, Jason Macomber, Kristen and husband, Liam McCormick, Kyle and wife, Stephanie Perkins, Casey and wife, Cyndie Bunker, Matt Perkins and wife, Sheri; along with seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the love of his life, Earlene E. Perkins; son Kevin Perkins and daughter-in-law; Julie Perkins, and two brothers; Carl Perkins and Royce Perkins."
