"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 25 May 2021: "Schoodic Peninsula and Lakeland, Florida - Jeanette Caroline Fickett Smith of the Schoodic Peninsula and of Lakeland, Florida, went to be with her Lord, May 23, 2021. She was born the only child of Earl K. and Dorothy (Eldridge) Fickett on June 26, 1944, in Belfast, ME. A war baby, her father worked at Camden Shipyard and her mother was a homemaker. They soon moved to Milbridge, where Jeanette grew up and graduated from Milbridge High School as valedictorian of her class. In 1962 she fell in love and married her husband, Larry Smith. While Larry was in the military, she took a job at the Stinson Canning Company in Prospect Harbor, as a receptionist and bookkeeper. They moved to Winter Harbor, where they lived for 39 years. They then built and moved into their lovely ocean view home in Gouldsboro, where she spent her last days watching the sun rise and set over the ocean. Music was one of her passions, having played piano and organ for many churches and special events throughout her life. She had played at the First Baptist Church in Cherryfield, for many years, along with being the organist for 33 years at St. Christopher Church at Grindstone Neck. She also enjoyed her time playing for Winter Harbor Baptist Church and Steuben Union Church. She and her husband, Larry, often enjoyed playing together, as it was a shared passion. In Jeanette's younger years, she was an active member of the Acadian Garden Club and belonged to several yacht clubs. She enjoyed traveling, having visited the Hawaiian Islands twice, took cruises to the Bahamas and Mexico, visited Niagara Falls - New York and Canada, Arizona, California, and Texas, all along with her family. She and Larry have owned a home in Florida since 1989, and have enjoyed wintering there ever since. Jeanette trained to be an amateur ballroom dancer and traveled with the Arthur Murray Studio troop for several winters in Florida. Among her other hobbies, she always enjoyed cooking, home decorating, reading countless books on British History, American History, personal biographies, true adventure and explorations. She has amassed a vast library on these subjects along with Maine history, etc. One of her greatest personal achievements was playing the organ for the Arch Bishop of Canterbury and receiving a personal invitation in the form of a personal letter from Queen Elizabeth to visit the palace. She has taken great pride in her children, their education and accomplishments. Jeanette believed in her Lord and lived by her favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5+6 : 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.'
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry; her son, Larry Jr.; daughter-in-law, Michelle Smith; her daughter, Nancy; son-in-law, Douglas Pike; a grandson, Derek Smith and his fiancee, Melissa; and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Laura Pike; and several cousins."
[43634] Mercy and John's children are believed to be: Joseph (1725-1799), m. Hannah Hathaway in 1753; Sarah (1725-1777), m. Lemuel Mendall in 1747; John (1729-1794), m. Persis Davis in 1751; Mercy (1731-1737; Elizabeth (1733-1777), m1. in 1753; m2. Thomas Tabor in 1766; David (1735-1790), m. Mary Hathaway in 1764; Mercy (1738-1738); Thomas (1740-1761); Isaac (1746-1750).
