Burial will be in the Lantz Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Varner was born Oct. 24, 1909, in Massillon, Ohio, and lived here most of her life. She was a retired employee of the Phoenix Glass Co. of Monaca, Pa., and was a member of the First Christian Church and the J.D. Wilcox Class. Surviving are two sons, Richard Heichel of Green Springs, Ohio, and Paul Shade of Mansfield; four daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Eva) Lawson of Spokane, Wash., Eileen Heichel of Bucyrus, Mrs. Donald (Janis) Shambaugh, with whom Mrs. Varner made her home, and Mrs. Edward (Evelyn) Shambaugh of Mansfield; 19 grandchidren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Evan 'Dutch' Davis of Mansfield and George Davis of Elida, Ohio; and three sisters, Ruth Beer and Minnie Fox, both of Mansfield, and Betty Mitchell of Zepherhills, Fla. One son, Harvey Heichel Jr., preceded her in death."

He had three sons and seven daughters with Elizabeth Notestine between 1827 and 1850. He died on April 30, 1876, in Saville, Pennsylvania, at the age of 67, and was buried in Ickesburg, Pennsylvania.
Find A Grave memorial 46177987 offers: "Conrad Rice, Jr., father of James M. Rice, was born in Perry County, where he attended school and received a good education. Besides being an excellent reader, he was a careful student of the Bible. After leaving school he became a millwright, and worked in that calling for several years. Then he assisted his father in farming on the homestead until 1850. His father then gave him a farm, on which he made many improvements, building a fine house, planting orchards, etc. Mr. Rice was married in Turbett Township, Juniata County, Pa., to Miss Elizabeth Notestine, a native of Cumberland County, daughter of Daniel and Christiana (Tress) Notestine. Her father was a hatter; he died in Turbett Township. They had these children: Jonathan, deceased; Sarah (Mrs., David L. Swartz), mother of Hon. William Swartz, judge of the common pleas court of Juniata County; Jane, who died young; Elizabeth, living with James M. Rice; Jane M. (Mrs. John Wisehaupt), mother of G. W. Wisehaupt, of Port Royal, Juniata County; Susan (Mrs. Jacob Wisehaupt), of Spruce Hill Township, deceased; Kate (Mrs. George J. Rice), of Madison Township, Perry County; Rebecca, who died young; William, deceased; and James M. Mr. Rice was a consistent member of the Lutheran church, in which he had held the position of elder and deacon. In all church matters he took very active part.
