Mrs. Spivy, born Feb., 23, 1911, in Rogersville, was a lifelong resident of Rogersville. She was, united in marriage on Oct. 6, 1940 to Wlllard Spivy. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 68 years. She is survived by her husband, Willard E. Spivy; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kerwin Russell, Ozark; three grandchildren, Terri Stamps, Edmond, Okla, Vicki Russell, Little Rock, Ark., and Brian Russell, Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Preston-Marsh Funeral Chapel, Rogersville with the Rev. Don Washam officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery."

May 1941 until September 1941, Richard Joseph Morgrage Jr. worked at Mt. Desert Boat Yard Inc., as a clerk. In October 1941 he went to work for the War Department at Dow Field in Bangor, Maine as a storekeeper until March 1942. He enlisted in the United States Navy April or 1942 as a storekeeper. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. In November 1945 he attended Husson College in Bangor, Maine where he graduated with a B.A. Degree June 1946. He also worked part-time for Thomas Rod Company while attending college. He went to work for Maine Timber Company in Green Lake, Maine as a clerk maintaining accounting records, covering payrolls, tax returns and general accounting from June 1946 to January 1947 when he accepted temporary duty with Naval Reserve Recruiting Office in Portland, Maine as Public Director until September 1947. Richard Jr., then went to Calais Hospital in Calais, Maine as Administrator from September 1947 until March 1948 when he sought a more secure position with St. Croix Paper Company in Woodland, Maine as a clerk until January 1951 when he volunteered for active duty following the start of the Korean Conflict. From February 1951 to October 1953 he was in Patuxent River, Maryland at Base NAS as inventory supervisor. In October 1953 he was transferred to the USS Midway (CVA41) and was Aviation CPO. February 1954 when he was Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia until August 1954 when he graduated and was sent to the USS Shenandoah (AD26) as Stores & Ships Store Officer. He left the Shenandoah for shore duty rotation in August 1956 to Base NAS Brunswick, Maine as Division Officer and Administrative Supervisor over all phases of
Storage, full traffic and associated functions. He was released from active duty December 20, 1957. In January 1958 he was re-assigned as a civilian at Base NAS Brunswick to Manager of a 150 Bed Motel as well as the activities of the Social Clubs and Package Liquor Stores. In May 1962 he was re-assigned to Administrative Supervision over Housing Project of Base NAS Brunswick holding the title of Housing Manager. Richard Jr., also assisted with establishment of the Navy Sea Cadets program in the Bath and Brunswick, Maines area. He has been licensed Lay Speaker of Maine Methodist Conference, Member of Toastmaster's International. He is a register Maine Guide and he was interested in Senior Scouting programs and a form Explorer Advisor. He also has a great interest in bamboo fly rod building and repair, fly tieing, and very very good at sketching. He retired from Civil Service December 31, 1976 after 30 years of which 12 years were active duty in the Navy.

Alta graduated from Winter Harbor High School Class cl 1931, and Eastern State Normal School Class of 1933, where she received her teaching certificate. Together with her husband, Earl, she operated Schoodic Cabins and Hillside Laundromat in Winter Harbor and the Norge Village in Ellsworth for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara L. and husband, James Wade Lilly, of Newburgh; one son, Richard E. Gerrish of Winter Harbor and his special friend, Patricia Zebulske of Stetson; two granddaughters, Cathy J. Carruthers her daughter, Laura, of Woodbridge, and Susan L. Campbell and her husband, Wayne, of Hampton, Va.; two grandsons, Brian P. Gerrish and his wife, Vicki, and their sons, Ryan and Gabe, of Birch Harbor and Wesley D. Gerrish and his fiancee, Sarah Begley, of Attleboro, Mass.; one sister, Ruth OKeefe and her husband, John, of East Hartford, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Rossetta Myrick of Labelle, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl M. Gerrish, in 1971 and by a brother, Arland Myrick."
