[47265] Alverda m. (1) in 1876 Ezekiel M. Chew (1851-1880) & (2) in 1904 Joseph McLees Hunter (1844-1917). She and Ezekiel had Oro Lottis Chew (1876-1880), buried with his parents. Her second husband's obituary: ""News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 26 November 1917," p. 3: "Joseph M. Hunter, well known Richland county farmer and former representative in the state legislature, died Saturday afternoon at his home in Shiloh after a brief illness. While he had been in failing health for several years past, his condition was never considered serious and his death was entirely unexpected. Born In Bloominggrove township, April 29, 1844, he lived in this county all his life. He was the son of James and Mary Hunter, and wan the last surviving member of a family of six children. Mr. Hunter's boyhood was spent on the farm and he learned the agricultural pursuits which he followed until he retired from the farm and located in Shiloh. For seven years, after being appointed to the position in 1883, he held the office of superintendent of the Richland county infirmary. He returned to Bloominggrove township and engaged in farming until in 1897, he entered politics and was twice elected as representative from Richland county to the seventy-third and seventy-fourth general assemblies. In later years, he was mayor of Shiloh and also a justice of the peace. Mr. Hunter was twice married, his second wife, Mrs. Alverda Chew, who he married in 1894, surviving him. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin D. Ropp, of this city, and Mrs. G. W. Snyder, of Shelby and three sons, Claude M., of this city, Garland of Columbus and Thurman, of Omaha, Neb. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from his late home in Shiloh. Interment will be in the Shenandoah cemetery."
[33348] http://www.thepeerage.com states she is daughter of Sir Thomas Harris, 1st Baronet Harris, of Boreatton. Ancestry.com offers: "Harris Name Meaning - English and Welsh (very common in southern England and South Wales): patronymic from the medieval English personal name Harry, pet form of Henry. This name is also well established in Ireland, taken there principally during the Plantation of Ulster. In some cases, particularly in families coming from County Mayo, both Harris and Harrison can be Anglicized forms of Gaelic Ó hEarchadha."
[60455] Richard is son of Howard Reed Harshberger (19101985) & Ruby Imogene Newton (19161977; m. 13 June 1936 in Garnett, Anderson Co., KS).
