[11536] In 1452 he became Count of Charolais and in 1467 succeeded his father as Duke. Richest and most powerful of the princes, Charles tried to restore Old Burgundy and mastered Lorraine. He was killed laying siege to Nancy. His daughter and heiress, Mary of Burgundy, soon married Maximilian of Habsburg, but Maximilian was compelled to give up all the Burgundian lands except Flanders. He is son of Philip the Good of Burgundy and Isabella of Portugal.

On April I, 1878, it was incorporated as a borough, the only one in the township. In 1858 Worthville contained about eighty citizens, one store, one gristmill, two sawmills, one blacksmith and one carpenter shop."
