Oct. 7, 2017, after a long vigil by loving members of her family. She had been under the tender care of Citrus County Hospice for many months. Thelma was born in Jonesport, Maine, Jan. 26, 1923. At a young age she became a member of the Advent Christian Church on Beals Island, Maine. She graduated from Jonesport High School and the Bangor School of Commerce/Husson College. She taught at Crosby High School in Belfast, and also Jonesport High School. She is the last of a family of nine children by Josiah and Emily Alley. Thelma is survived by her husband of 71 years, Whitney Newcomb of Inverness; son Burgess and his wife Deborah of Homosassa, Fla., son Gary and his wife Patricia of Newark, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her remains will be cremated at the Chas. E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory and eventually interred alongside those of her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. A family memorial is planned for her 95th birthday. Her life was dedicated to her family and the Golden Rule." Thelma is daughter of Josiah Merchant Alley (1859-1931) & Emily Delia Alley (1883-1976), both buried in Sewall Field Cemetery, Beals, Washington Co., ME.

Research in county census and vital records is needed. Isaac's children are from the 1870 census when he farmed in Woodland Twp., Fulton Co., IL and gave his age as 49.

Architect Foster Rhodes Jackson, who studied with Frank Lloyd Wright, designed and built this La Verne compound on 10 acres for himself and his wife.
He started work in 1955 on the home, which took several decades to complete.
Still owned by Jacksons widow, the home has skylights, floor-to-ceiling windows, wood-crafted ceilings and terrazzo floors.
Born in 1911, Jackson went into independent practice in 1938 and started practicing in Southern California in 1946. By 1953 he had gained national prominence with an exhibit of his work in London. He died in 1997.
About this home: The main house only has one bedroom in a suite that has his-and-her closets, a small swimming pool, a built-in piano and a library. There are three bathrooms in the main house plus one in the guesthouse and one in the office.
There are canyon and hill views from many parts of the compound, which is on a cul-de-sac.
Asking price: $2.5 million.
Size: The main house is 3,628 square feet.
Features: There are four fireplaces in the main house and two in other parts of the compound.
The home also has a darkroom and a breezeway with access to the guesthouse and the office.

She was a life long member of Tressler Free Lutheran Church, of Loysville and was a member of its Ladies Aide; 50 year member of the Perry County Chapter 459 Order of the Eastern Star, New Bloomfield; Pennsylvania and Perry County Retired Teachers Assiciation and PSEA and NEA.
